An ex-elder once said to me, "If you want to just get by, there are a whole lot of religions easier to do it in than Jehovah's Witnesses."
(Granted, that was back when you still had to report all your time.)
how many of the millions of jws know it’s not true but stay anyway?.
my guess is most jws know it’s not true on a subconscious level to an extent but they don’t want to think about it too much and would never ever voice it out loud.. but this is probably true with all religions around the world?.

blood transfusion history.
1665 the first recorded successful blood transfusion occurs in england: physician richard lower keeps dogs alive by transfusion of blood from other dogs.. 1818 james blundell performs the first successful blood transfusion of human blood to treat postpartum hemorrhage.. 1840 the first whole blood transfusion to treat hemophilia is successfully completed.. 1900 karl landsteiner discovers the first three human blood groups, a, b and o.. 1902 landsteiner’s colleagues, alfred decastello and adriano sturli, add a fourth blood type, ab.. 1907 blood typing and cross matching between donors and patients is attempted to improve the safety of transfusions.
the universality of the o blood group is identified.. 1914 adolf hustin discovers that sodium citrate can anticoagulate blood for transfusion, allowing it to be stored and later transfused safely to patients on the battlefield.. 1932 the first blood bank is established at leningrad hospital.. 1939-1940 the rh blood group is discovered and recognized as the cause behind most transfusion reactions.. 1940 the us government establishes a nationwide blood collection program.. so from the beginning of the watchtower being printed in 1879, they were ok with blood transfusions until 1945. what caused this?
A good question I saw once is, "Is the symbol of life more important than life itself?"

I think that insofar as JWs actually believe the Watchtower teachings, it's because of the constant repetition along with the constant putdowns of alternatives as worldly and satanic.
The constant indoctrination leads them to shut their minds off when anyone tries to show them the doctrinal flip flops and false prophecies.
Many years ago, I tried to show an elder some of the ridiculous statements the WT has made. I used Randy Watters' "Thus Saith the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses" booklet.
He refused to look at the evidence because of the source -- "apostate material."
I tried to get him to check the originals to see if Randy's photocopies were of actual WT publications or apostate forgeries, but he simply shut his mind down and stalked out of the room.
to all those on this forum, i would love to know what your take on this vital question is..
If God didn't know what's going to happen, wouldn't that negate all the foretelling of the future by the prophets?
it's incredible how this cover, and also this "series" of watchtower's is burned into my mind.
i was almost 5 years old when these were released.
“1914 and you” — may 1, 1984 watchtower.
"1914 is true"?
What's "true" about it?
Please explain, and please don't merely assert unverifiable invisible happenings.
got a jw letter in the mail the other day.. i decided to throw some comments back.
not perfect, but i figured i wasted enough time since it will probably get thrown directly in the trash.. i found the person's home address who sent it and mailed it there, the address on the letter is the kingdom halls address.. .
curious to see if anything comes of this..
Unfortunately, they will probably just toss it in the trash, but you never know...
i was listening to a youtube where a pastor relates his experience of attending a jw memorial.
he said something that was profound to me.. "how do you have a memorial for someone alive?".
they use this phrase all the time, even printing thousands and thousands of invitations to invite everyone to join them in doing this.. i googled that phrase to see what other christian church's use this phrase and was astounded to see that at least the first two pages of results are in relation to jw's only..
The first time I attended a Memorial I was totally confused.
Why insist that I attend a meal and then tell me I'm not qualified to eat or drink the bread and wine?
In fact, no one at the Hall partook, so in what sense was it a meal?
from the earliest of times of the catholic church's ecumenical councils were used to make major changes to its doctrinal direction.
decisions were made by bishops, they were ratified by the pope ... and it was done.
and the laity had to accepted them or not.. and while splinter catholic religions accepted most of these councils, non-trinitarian faiths which developed latter (of which jehovah's witnesses are apart) did not.
Someone once said, "The only way to get light out of a Watchtower magazine is to put a match to it."

If the GB really believes we are in the last seconds of the last day, why are they making any changes at all?
there are assignments on the life and ministry school now where they are suggested to just talk to people without giving a witness.. they are supposed to practice starting conversations with strangers and listening to them to talk about whatever they want to talk about .
there is an assignment this week where the conversation ends without giving a witness.
jws don’t look like jws anymore and now they don’t actually preach.. you could get bearded men with sweaters or other such tops and women in pants or slacks coming upto you in the park or on the street and starting a conversation with you.. then you hear them listening to you and talking about whatever they think that you wanted to talk about .
