It would be hard to imagine a stronger pagan connection than eating meat that has just been offered in sacrifice on a pagan god’s altar. But in 1 Corinthians 8, Paul says it’s the person with a weak conscience who is troubled by such things. Why is it okay to eat meat I know a pagan offered on his idol’s altar three hours ago but wrong to celebrate birthdays because of something Pharaoh or Herod did more than 3000 years ago?

The ''dreaded'' birthday cake
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | september 2023. study article 39. let mildness be your strength.
11 if a workmate asks, for example, why we do not celebrate birthdays, consider: could he be wondering whether we are allowed to have a good time?
or might he feel that our position will dampen the company’s team spirit?

How Do Jehovah's Witnesses View Education?
by southyukon ini have a question about this article.. https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/jw-education-school/.
higher education can lead to moral and spiritual dangers.
a bible proverb says: "the shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself.

JWs view "worldly education" as evil, opposed to Jehovah, unnecessary (with Armageddon being so close), and vastly inferior to the teachings provided by the WT organization.

Are Jw's God's Organization?
by wantingtruth inhere i will quote a post written by "littleone" on another forum:.
when that original congregation apostasized, it formed the roman catholic church.
was it that the roman catholic church was jehovah's organization?
-

One thing the WT does very successfully is to get JWs to focus on the question as to which organization is God's true organization.
The mistaken implication is that God has one and only one true organization and that our salvation depends on finding it and serving God as part of it.
In contrast, the New Testament teaches that the key to salvation is Jesus Christ personally.

Did Geoffrey Jackson lie under oath at the ARC?
by Vanderhoven7 ini understand he intimated that the faithful slave was not the only spokesman for jehovah god.
he also intimated that corporal punishment was not advocated by the wts.
we're these lies or deception or did they represent the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?.

I questioned an elder: "If someone asks a Jehovah's Witness if he or she believes the Watchtower organization is God's only channel of communication on earth today, what should they answer?"
He said, "'Yes', because that's what we believe."
I said, "Even if they know it will cause offense?"
He answered, "The truth often offends people but Jehovah's Witnesses must bear witness to the truth."
I then directed him to YouTube to listen to Jackson answer that question and added, "If the members of the Governing Body don't testify to what they really believe when asked a direct question, how can they expect rank and file JWs to do so?"
He said, "I don't know what Brother Jackson said. I haven't seen it."
I said, "If you are really a lover of truth, then look it up on YouTube and hear it from his own mouth."
I planted that seed with him and then left.

Did anyone ever go out in service with Brother Foot-in-the-Door or Sister Insult-the-Christendom-Householder?
Manners? Respect?

JWLITE
by Teddnzo ineven elders can be part of the new jw lite brigade these days.
they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.
i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

When field service plummets, I wonder if the GB will reinstate the reporting requirements.

"...The Most Important Day of the Year" Watchtower January,2024
by Listener inwhat a mockery that statement is to over 99% of their followers.
there is nothing biblically that makes the jw memorial day important to anyone that does not partake.
they still continue to say .

The more I think about it, the more I realize that the Memorial isn't about remembering Jesus' death at all.
It's about further indoctrination in the two class system.

At the vast majority of Kingdom Halls, neither the bride nor the groom nor any member of the wedding party shows up.
The WT Memorial is a wake, not a wedding.

I know a POMO ex-elder who now refers to it as the "reject Jesus Memorial" for the reason covered by Big Dog.

The whole thing makes no sense.
If the meal isn't for non-"anointed," why invite them?
Why come to a meal where you are expected to handle the emblem trays but not partake of anything?
Why come to a "meal" at a Kingdom Hall where no one at all partakes?
Why come to a Memorial to Jesus only to be told that you aren't worthy to partake?
