  Important letter to be read after jan 16 watchtower study

  during the announcements at our service meeting last night, they "encouraged" everyone to attend the jan 16 watchtower study as they would be reading a "very important letter" afterwards.

  i havent seen anything pertaining to that on the site here.

  does anyone have any more information about this, or is this maybe just a local thing?.

  my school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.

  to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.

  what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.

The vocabulary is very similar...e.g., honesthearted ones, overcomers, etc. Sometimes that is due to the Bible translations they used then (no NWT until 1950 and only parts until 1961). Writers today tend to copy from older articles to CYA. At times when I first got the CD I found whole paragraphs lifted from older pubs and inserted into current articles. Rutherford had legal training and you can tell it from his style. All this has filtered into articles year after year. "Jehovah" was used less in Russell's writings but pumped up in Rutherford's when he started pushing the 1931 Jehovah's witnesses name and distancing himself from "Bible Students." Rutherford pushed "vindicating God's name" a teaching that was finally dropped and acknowledged in 1995.

  i stepped down in feb last year.

  i had time to read the whole bible once it took me 2.5 years then very recently it took me a year.

  i did not find the bible very comforting, way to much condoned murder only some of jesus words were worth something and so much repetition.
