@fwfacts... Sounds like some of the things I did in my last few meetings also... @hoser... You should get this guy's number before you or he moves away... Might be a good source of moral support whenever you decide to exit... Just saying...

I think an undercover apostate was sitting near me at the meeting this afternoon
by hoser inthis brother was sitting near me today at the hall and when the public speaker started talking about the signs of the last days this guy started whispering something to his wife and kind of mocking the speaker in a quiet voice.
his wife looked really pissed off.. i've suspected this guy before by some of the stuff he's said and done and some of the #3 talks hes given he's gone off the assigned topic quite a bit.. during the wt study i was doing mics and i happened to walk by him several times.
his wt was on the floor and his bible was opened to topic for conversation at the end of the bible at the last days part.. a little while later his wife gave him the look and said something to him and he picked up his unprepared wt and followed along.. hoser.

Does the Governing Body (or past presidents) members have (or had to) have body guards?
by Joliette inwas watching a biography on the history channel about presidental securities and secrets, how the president is guarded just in case of an attack, an assaination attempt, etc.
it got me to thinking about if any of the past or current gb members (or wt presidents) have ever had any death threats?
do they have a specific plan for a gb member when they visit a city or country?

20571pnt...... No offense, but you should seriously consider getting some professional help... Whenever you're not cut-pasting WT articles by the hundreds, you're posting delusional comments like this one...

In the 90's, I was in a congo that also had a very humble and loving annointed sister. Everyone was convinced that she was very genuine by the way she interacted with everyone in the congo. Then a very strange thing happened in field service one day when she was partnered with my wife. My wife noticed that this sister had twice avoided a particular house in the territory. When she asked the annointed sister about this, she would say that the person who lives there is really not interested. Then, just as the annointed sister said this, a woman in her 60's opens the front door, runs outside and gets in the annointed sister's face about wanting her money back for a sick bird that the annointed sister had supposedly sold her while she was in (you guessed it) field service. My wife just stood there in shock as the annointed sister kept walking away from this lady who then began to scream and carry on. After my wife snapped out of her daze (she couldn't believe what had just happened), she quickly ran after the annointed sister to find out what that was all about. The annointed sister said something about that lady being mentally unstable and then quickly changed the subject. A few months later, we found out that this supposedly "annointed" sister actually had an exotic bird nursery inside her house and had twice been rushed to the hospital with severe asthma because of this. We also found out that the annointed sister would occasionally try to peddle her exotic birds during field service (usually when she noticed that the household had birds or other pets)... Soon thereafter we moved to a different city. Sadly, this "annointed" sister died of an asthma attack about 4 years ago, survived by her elder husband and disfellowshipped son... I know this is slightly off topic and -'m really not trying to make a point about anything... Just thought I'd share that bizarre story as this post reminded me of that "humble and loving" annointed sister I came across in the 90's...

When and how did the GB start cracking down on the dubs social life?
by highdose ini can remember when i was first assimilated, the jw's did alot together, they went to the park together, they had picnics, days out together.. .
somehow by the 90's this had stopped.
did i miss somthing?

Highdose... Thanks for posting this thread... I thought I was the only one who noticed this...
During the 80's, I remember when the entire congo used to have at least one big summer outing per year. In fact, I remember when the date and location of this "field day" was announced in the Service Meeting... everyone became giddy with excitement afterwards and the elders even made arrangements to rent a bus for the older brothers who couldn't drive very far. The bus would depart from the Kingdom Hall at 7AM on a Saturday... oops! there goes one day of Field service down the drain!
Then, just as you mentioned, the 90's came and all this suddenly stopped.
But I have a pretty good idea of why these outings suddenly ceased in my KH... During these "field days", I noticed that everyone felt a lot more at ease, especially after having a couple of beers, and this created an environment where everyone would speak more freely about things that bothered them... particularly certain bizarre JW beliefs and doctrines. Invariably, the subject of 1975 managed to make it into the conversation. Well, eventually the elders received a letter from Brooklyn in which the Service Department "suggested" to our elders to seriously reconsider having anymore field days in the future since this appears to be creating an environment whereby Satan could easily introduce apostacy into the congregation... I got this from an MS who got it from his elder father and both were highly upset with this "suggestion" from Brooklyn. The letter also said something about some brothers never showing up for Field Service but were always present for Field Day. And so that was the end of our only "fun" day of the year...

Strategizing against the WTBTS
by Essan incould we be doing more brothers and sisters?
i'm sure i'm not alone in wishing that there was more we could do to hasten the demise of the wtbts and to speed up the exodus of it's members.
and i'm sure i'm not alone in thinking of possible ways to do this.. one which i have been considering lately is to make use of the fact that many who leave the organization actually leave the area, move away, and start a new life.

I think the 1st step is getting them to understand what Proverbs 4:18 really means... Currently this Proverb is basically the GB's license to say whatever they want without being held accountable for their flip-flops and false teachings... JWs need to understand that God has NOT given anyone authority to go beyond what is written in the Bible. "NuLite-TM" is yet another JW phrase that has been repeated so many times that is has become gospel. But ask a JW to show you a few texts which prove that the FDS receives "progressive light" and I believe you will be able to at least plant the seed that will get them thinking... IMO

Feet and Toes Research and Noo Lite
by Mad Sweeney inthis has been discussed in the district convention thread but i felt like all the "toes" info would be nice to see in one place.
[from the late 1950s through most of the 1970s the toes of the image meant all coexisting powers and governments at the time of the end].
35 but there was a final or completing part of the symbolic image, namely, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

@ 20571pnt428571...
metacommunication won't work here... that only works on active JWs who are afraid to think for themselves... you can go now... but thanks for stopping by...

I was only 9 years old in '75 but I remember all the buzz at the assembly in '74 and thereafter... it lasted about a year or so and then no one dared bringing up the subject after that (since doing so would be considered sinning against the holy spirit)...

Interesting discussion about Bethel
by DagothUr init's from the jwtalk.net (the jdub forum).
the name of the topic is "bethel volunteers?":.
dub1: it was announced at our meeting last night volunteers for bethel in nyc.

I guess they need some bethelite wannabes to un-bolt the printing presses from the floor so they can ship these upstate and flip the empty buildings during the next real estate boom... It shouldn't be too hard to find brothers looking to get out of field service for a while...

Pangs of Conscience - June 2011 KM
by dozy inthere is an article in the latest kingdom ministry about counting time spent in the ministry.
one comment surprised me - it says that counting time wrongly can lead to "pangs of conscience".
a bit of an ott expression , i can't help thinking.. the only pangs the local pioneers are concerned about here are hunger pangs as they head to dunkin donuts for a 40 minute "break".

SD7... Right on! I counted my time from the moment I made the knot on my neck tie at home until I took it off in my car on the drive back home...
