They don't want new JWs Googling "Franz"... they might run into Ray instead of whacky Freddy... that's why he was omitted...

id always get talked to about it when i'd wear shirts with a band on it or whatnot.

What is the official procedure for JWs in disaster relief situations?
by Franklin Massey inhere is my understanding of how jws handle disaster situations: they are directed to take care of only jws first.
once all the jws are accounted for and assisted, they will move on to preaching to others in the affected area but not providing any real material assistance to non-believers.. i hope i'm wrong about this.
i have been told by some people that my view is incorrect and that jws are also told to go out into affected communities to provide material assistance to non-believers by providing shelter, water, food, etc.

I don't know what the official procedure is...
I can tell you that when the earthquake destroyed Port au Prince, Hait, JWs crossed the border from the Dominican Republic the very next day with many trucks filled with food, water, supplies, etc.. These went first to the branch in Port au Prince and then distributed to JWs around the city. Out of compassion, many Haitian JWs shared their food and water with their neighbors (like most human beings will do in situations like this). However, the Society did not go out of its way to try to help non-JWs in Haiti... of course, they later put their spin on this to give the impression that the Society helped everyone they could but the reality is that the Society did not spend one cent to try to help non-JWs in Haiti directly...

Oct public Wt article about 587/607
by dontplaceliterature inhas anyone read this article?
i am not familiar enough with the topic to debunk it.
they basically accuse the historical record of being unreliable.. i'm surprised it was even discussed.

They probably paid some historians a big load of money to "quote" them in the next WT mag...: "oh yeah, us historians have always felt that 70 years of servitude equals 70 years of desolation" ... Cha-ching ... The WT wins and the historians wins. Ok, maybe I'm running ahead of the FDS again... Let's just wait for the article and see what they came up with this time...

Do JW Organization Mistakes Matter?
by InterestedOne inafter reading what concerned jw has to say, i gather that for him, if the jw organization is currently making any mistakes, those mistakes do not matter and are not worth naming, not even one.
i am completely baffled by this and would like to understand why a person would take this position.
concerned jw, can you please explain why you take this position?

The thing many JWs fail to recognize is that most of these so-called "mistakes" are really NOT mistakes at all... These are intentionally engineered and manufactured doctrines that are part of their ongoing marketing strategy which cleverly creates a perpetual "need" where other religions fall short and simply creates a temporary "want". It's simply a means of corporate survival... ...If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone... If you're not a baptized and active JW, well, you're not going to paradise... And their permission to make these so-called mistakes is in Pro 4:18 while their "hook" remains constant... "We're the only ones who preach worldwide, don't celebrate holidays or believe in that ridiculous Trinity doctrine. So the FDS is directed by God's spirit and all other religions will perish". But again, the distinction has to made between mistakes and made-up doctrine. Just my 2...

Feeling a bit alienated
by factfinder ini notice mostly everyone at jwn was a "born-in".
i actually chose to become a witness.
i was born and raised jewish but by the time i was 15 i had lost interest in judaism and stopped practicing it.

Concerned JW... One question... Can you name one "mistake" or one "false teaching" that any of the writers of the Bible put on paper? No, you cannot.
Don't try to compare the WTBTS with people who made errors in the Bible... you need to compare apples with apples... but your comparing apples with poison ivy...
