Don, I loved the book. The entire concept of what we taught in 1919 being the keystone of JW is very effective. I heartily recommend this to everyone who is thinking about confronting a believer. Good points in your book.

Why I Like the "Proclaimers" Book
by t33ap80c inwhile it is true that the "proclaimers" book is not always as open and honest about the society's history as it claims to be, it is open and honest enough to bring into question the society claim to being god's organization.
it's a matter of (1) knowing what to look for, (2) where to find it and then, (3) to be able get the sense of what it means.. take for example the extremely important matter of the second coming of christ.... on the top of page 47 the book truthfully explains how president charles russell came to believe that jesus returned invisibly in 1874 to begin his second coming ("invisible presence").
and then a careful reading of the footnote on page 133 shows that the date of jesus' return was not changed to 1914 until 1943.. it is likely that even if some witnesses notice that fact, they do not get the sense of what it means.

Think about this...you were looking for a job when you found this one...
Regardless of what your home is worth, the worst that can happen is the judge forces a sale and you divide the proceeds.
I wouldn't worry too much about alimony if you are childless and have only been married ten years. Assuming the two of you are relatively young and she has not been proven to be mentally ill (in which case you might have to keep up her health insurance) probably the judge will, at worst, give her alimony only long enough for retraining etc.
See a lawyer, see a lawyer. He'll give you good advice.

I will tell you the same thing that I would tell a woman in the same situation. Never, never take abuse. It never gets better. Someone who abuses you now will abuse you again later. Don't listen to "I'm sorry".
Anybody who hits you, threatens your life, is verbally abusive, and stalks you the way she does is dangerous.
I don't normally advise the average person to abandon a marriage except in this kind of case. The three "A's" need to be important criteria for leaving...Abuse, addiction, or adultery.

Private Discussion
by besty insimon.
as most people seem to have worked out the private discussion and support part of the forum is not private beyond requiring a username.. today nugget and cantleave are having printouts of their posts in this section being used in evidence at their jc.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/204436/1/nugget-and-cantleave-are-no-longer-jehovahs-witnesses.
my suggestion is, if its possible, to create an invite-only section of the board for truly private support.. .

When I first came here I was totally paranoid that somehow I could be outed. Everyone assured me that I didn't have to worry so long as I didn't post enough personal information that a member of my congregation could identify me. I don't think the problem is access to the discussions, it appears to me to be that information was obtained through Facebook.
Was the information and reassurance I got about not being too worried to post accurate or not? Recently we have had a couple of new posters who are elders join in the conversations. Are these people and others just getting the courage to post really people who we want to keep out or are we all getting a little paranoid?

Especially the baptism of minors. Doesn't the organization point fingers at other religions for infant baptism and yet we still alow kids not even into their TEENS get baptized. You should have to be at least 21!

Yes, now the important thing is that you woke up. Laverite is right. Move forward now. You can't do anything about it now.

Good. Save your own money for a month. Don't pay any bills. (longer if you need it) Go get your own apartment with the money. You don't need any furniture but a bed. It'll be much more peaceful.
