Involved(ish) with a JW Man.

i know there are several posts about witnesses and non-witnesses in regards to relationships.

i couldn’t find anything specifically that spoke to me, so i would love some third-party advice and thoughts.. i have never been someone to pursue a stranger from the internet.

earlier this year, i became friends with someone on a video game.

Holy crap! How interesting........ that he thinks he could hurt his god because he wants a relationship with a kind, intelligent and honest lady. God should be grateful that you both want to have a decent life together.

According to the Pew Religious Landscape Survey (look it up) over 60 percent of JW born-ins leave the religion. The ones that don't leave are damaged almost beyond repair.

They are clinging to a religion that they think can hurt the feelings of their god if they disappoint. You have to have a very selfish understanding of what your role in life is if you think you are capable of hurting your god. It is all too obvious that JW's just make this stuff up....... they have little to no understanding about god. God,s natural language is silence........... everything else is a bad translation of that silence. Which explains why there are so many nasty religions in this world.

This is a religion that is compared to other crank beliefs. The Shakers, Mormons, Adventists, Christian Scientists, Amish and of late... Scientology.

Being a JW means that you are obedient to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WTBTS) where obedience is more important then faith......that's the way it is in the JW world.

The WTBTS is a corporate entity..... it was founded in 1879..... it's religion........ the Jehovah's Witnesses........ came about in the 1930's. So this was and continues to be a Corporate religion.

My wife and I got out in our early twenties....Why? The ban on blood .......no blood transfusions allowed.

How dangerous is it to be a JW....... children and adults who have a critical need for a life saving blood transfusion.... forget about it. If you permit or accept a transfusion you are disfellowshiped for the rest of your life.

My sister died for want of blood when she was 44 and had a long life ahead of her,,,, so did my wife's mother. Lets be honest.......... so did thousands of others through out the history of the JW's since 1945.

By the way Jesus never mentioned this blood ban. Nor did he mention Armageddon a belief held by JW's that they will be the only survivors of the end of this world. Because they are the only religion that has the truth.

Being with a JW means your with a highly controlled person who is loyal to the WTBTS first and foremost. A person who will let you die by refusing to allow you a life saving transfusion.

P.S the WTBTS and individual congregations and it's Elders are being dragged through the courts right now because they failed to protect the children in the congregation from child sexual abuse when it was reported to them. Look up the JW pedophile problem and it's 'two witness' rule.

The other reason we left this sick excuse of a religion, beside blood and chronic child abuse............ is that they are looking forward, joyfully, to the death of Billions at Armageddon so they can build their paradise earth over the bones of the dead. It's all nonsense...it doesn't even rise to the level of being a joke.

Hate to tell you the following........... it's really a death cult. And if he's not ready to leave...... you need to.

My advice........ Plenty of great people in the world on line, in churches, at work, in school, Hobbies and those very special ones who do volunteer work (the best people you can meet hands down) who don't belong to a cult.

Rethink your situation and find a volunteer group to join....... there are a ton of Volunteer groups who want to meet you and work side by side. Your guy will be in one of these volunteer groups.

WT Teaching That You Can't Leave Behind

after posting on another thread it became apparent to me that it can be difficult for some ex jws to totally shake off all wt teaching , even after leaving the org.

do you still feel guilty going into a church for a wedding or a funeral .

can you bring yourself to celebrate birthdays or christmas .

When asked....... I talk about what the JW's believe often in churches, usually a round table discussion. Three things impact the group.

1. IF the JW's knew I was in your church having this discussion, I would be shunned for life because you guys are considered apostates.

2. The JW's have a serious pedophile problem since they will not act on this issue unless there are two witnesses to the sexual abuse. Think about that.

3. The witnesses that knock on your door are more interested in seeing if they would want to move into your house when you are destroyed at Armageddon.

Anyway back in the day when I was pioneering where 'the need was great',,,,,,,,,,,, Our small congregation, which was meeting in a humble drafty store front, decided to buy a local synagogue that fell on hard times (not enough male members to preform the religious duties that a synagogue needed to do).

If I remember..... we purchased it for 3300 dollars. A nice brick building in a quite neighborhood. We fixed it up re a new roof etc.

I volunteered to go through the scrolls and books and we set aside a few things for our 'theocratic library'. The rest were returned to the past owners.

During this phase of making the building into the Kingdom Hall I began to realize how old the Jewish religion was and how together they kept it. I felt like a complete phony being associated with a corporation that had pretensions of being God's representative. Realized it was all BS .

Left the JW's with my wonderful pioneer partner the next year. At that time we were both in our early twenties. Celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary this year.

Would you hesitate to accept a blood transfusion if you needed one ?

No hesitation. At 44 I had to have open heart surgery. Something went wrong and they pumped in five liters of blood. I recovered nicely and believe it when I say I have really enjoyed the last 30 some years.

Watched my wife's mother die before her time and my sister. No blood for them.

Can you bring yourself to celebrate birthdays or Christmas
.Not a problem for us birthdays and Christmas are simply family touchstones.

Publisher numbers versus baptised witnesses.

i grew up as a witness, and left about 10 years ago, i'm currently researching witness numbers for a project i'm working on, and i can't seem to get an accurate number of baptised witnesses - hardly a surprise!

from their website it looks like they list the number of publishers instead of the number of baptised witnesses, so it totally works to obscure how many actual witnesses there are, apart from the fact it's morally dubious to class a publisher as a minister of god as they refer to publishers on their uk section of the site.

i also am trying to work out how many leave every year, even approximate figures would be great, from their own website it just looks like they try to massage figures to make them look as favourable as possible.

the fact that there are pomi ex-jws who have been disfellowshiped or inactive for years who still live in constant fear of armageddon indicates that watchtower will manage to exist in one way or another for years, if not decades, to come.

watchtower, like all other religious cults, operate on the premise that "you can fool some of the people all of the time...and that's enough!

(1) As communities learn about the pedophile problem and the cover up a JW knocking on your door is going to be as welcome as a Catholic priest knocking on your door.

(2) It's an aging group of members with few conversions. The newly baptized are children who were born in. Many leave at an older age or lack any real commitment.

(3) The WTBTS are masters of painting themselves into a corner. It gets messy when they have to offer 'new lite'. And a once cherished belief must be dropped such as the 'This generation....."

(4) Talk about painting yourself in a corner........ explain the newly growing new anointed showing up at the Memorial.

(5) The internet: "Thank you for the bible study but I've researched the internet and nothing you claim as the truth is true."

(6) The Blood doctrine! The only religion that insists on No Blood. If a clear number of deaths, due to the lack of a life saving blood transfusion, were made known it would number well into the thousand's Just 1000 per year world wide since 1945 comes to 73,000 needless deaths.

(7) Because of needless deaths there's a lot of pissed off people in the world.

(8) JW.ORG? You've got to be kidding.

(9) Massive Disfellowships and shunning for nonsense issues can destroy families. Shunning a person who wants to exercise their freedom from a religion indicates how weak and scared this religion really is.

Greenland For Sale

the donald has recently suggested that he would like to look into buying greenland from denmark in the same manner that alaska was purchased from the russians.

i think the danes would be smart to look into selling it as it is costing them money every year with very little returns for their investments so far.. the alternative might well be that donald declares greenland a national security threat and invades them so that the world remains safe for democracy.

i would suggest to the danes that as any other real estate transaction that they put it on the open market and see how much russia or china are willing to offer .

I am back because I needed to say........ thank you Tameria2001 for sharing this information.

The Anderson's, Blondie and others have kept this issue alive on this and other forums.

I consider child abuse as far more important then Armageddon and the Ban on Blood....it is one of the worst things the WTBTS has done to protect their religion.

This is going to break the Society's back. One day no door in their community will open to the JW's....... there money will dry up. The Kingdom Halls will go unused . This is what happens to cheap junk religions....but even a billion Catholics are now in a state of flux wondering and keeping a wary eye on their priests and bishops and even their POPE.

This is how it will end. Jesus said "don't hinder the little child from coming to me."

Too bad the Christian religions and other non religious groups didn't take those words seriously.

No religion who allows this crime to go unpunished,,,,,,,,,, can fly high enough to escape.

What’s your favourite memory?

since i’ve joined a fortnight ago or so, i have reading all sort of posts, some recent and some really old!

🙂 i’m really enjoying all of your stories and contributions.

I have a number of stories and memories. This is one of my favorites.

The congregation I joined at the age of 12 along with my mother was half black and half white. This was in the New York city area.

It was the first time I interacted with Black folks. Contrary to what people thought........ the North was segregated by neighborhoods and schools.

I liked all the friends in the congregation and I got along with everyone. I was the little runt who would look every one in the eye throw in a smile and remembered their names. At first they were a little confused because Blacks and Whites weren't that close in the Kingdom Halls or at assemblies. Everyone was polite but not overly friendly.

I never got that division about race. However we are talking about the late 1950's.

After a couple of years........ I was totally integrated in both segments of the congregation. I would go out in service with any and every group. I was invited to parties, pizza after the meeting. Whatever.

When I was set to graduate from high school my mom asked me what kind of celebration did I want. I told her that I'd like to invite my JW friends maybe about sixty people.

Now my Mom was reserved around the black friends..... she was old school Italian and was raised in an Italian neighborhood and she wasn't one to change.

So the day arrived and so did our guests. Of course half were black.

This was the first time any black folks were invited to our home. Mom put on a smile and surprised me and our guests when she greeted everyone by name.

Anyway the party was my thank you to all of the good people, that in their different ways, helped me to grow up.
