Kennedy was an if for me. He got us into Vietnam. Like Lyndon and Clinton he could not resist the ladies.
However Lyndon Johnson did get some important laws past. "After taking office, he won passage of a major tax cut, the Clean Air Act, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But he kept the Vietnam war going instead of pulling out.
I would delete Reagan and Nixon who were terrible Presidents.
Nixon discouraged the Vietnam peace talks instead he continued the war because he thought it was the path to his reelection. An additional 22,000 US soldiers died.....needlessly......... so he could get reelected.
I'd add Bush senior as a highly qualified President based on his military service, being the head of the CIA and a Vice President. He had great credentials for the job. He only got four years as President but was smart enough to not press an invasion into Iraq........ something his son totally botched up.
Speaking of his son he was a terrible President. Got us in two wars and tanked the economy.
Obama...... Yes indeed! He inherited a financial meltdown and two wars all thanks to Geo Bush JR. Obama got the financial part handled though it took a good two years. Trump likes to take credit for Obama's financial success as his own.

I read through all nine pages and found this amazing! The Swiss Court got it! Shunning was not about freedom of religion. The Societies rules were and still are against freedom FROM their religion.
It's a big open door to enter the JW world but if you want to leave it's going to be a big slap on your butt.
It is very apparent that the Society uses coercion to enforce their policy of severe shunning to the point that JW's were compelled to shun or be disfellowshiped in turn.
The Swiss court's summation used the term Bullying. The definition of Bullying among other acts is to intimidate or coerce........

The wife and I tossed out everything related to the WTBTS including their crappy bible.
We had relocated to a new area......... Fort Lauderdale Florida, and had a merry band of former JW's who had left when we did in the mid1960's.
Thinking back none of us ever mentioned the JW beliefs, never attended any meeting other then a family funeral.
We were over all of it.
Nobody on this forum would fine fault with your breaking up with your JW boyfriend.Especially if he lied about his religion.
Most non JW's do not, at first, understand how toxic and controlling this religion can be.
While everything might seem ok on the surface in the beginning of a relationship.........if your ex is a true believer....... your relationship will have to bend to his religion.
Since a JW should not be dating a non JW you might experience being shut out of normal social contact with his JW friends and or family.
If it would be helpful to share some of the reasons why you broke up, we have a fair number of people on this forum who have gone through this experience.
i find it ironic that jw.org publishes an article about homosexuality on the day i received july 2020 issue if the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints magazine "ensign" which also has an article on same-sex attraction.

regardless, the lds article comes across as more caring than the jw article although in the end members in good standing cannot act upon their same-sex attraction in either religion..
Here is my first opportunity in decades to say something nice about the JW's.
Though they may never accept a homosexual marriage or relationship they would never knock on doors with a singular message to vote against Gay marriage.

many media outlets have tagged her as "russian troll" while she doesn't seem anything like it.
it certainly is way too detailed and is going on for way too long to be a troll nor is her story being artificially trended or upvoted, fact is, the posts have virtually no upvotes or retweets even though people elsewhere claimed they tried.. what i can gather is that she came out about being trafficked by epstein but quickly found out that nobody is actually interested in her story.
I can only speculate that Epstein's protection........ until he lost it........may have been possible because he had photographic images and film of powerful men not only using prostitutes but also minors.
I am sure he managed to get the goods on anyone who was exposed to his sexual/slave island property and or his Palm Beach estate.
Powerful men are often overly enthusiastic about sex. This has been true of many Presidents and other successful people. They do not rein in their sexual proclivities.

it feels like we've really turned a corner, this morning especially.. the covid lockdowns are ending and medical systems were not overwhelmed plus there are existing treatments that have been proven to be effective (like hydroxychloroquine) and new vaccines and medicines in the pipeline.

The WTBTS has preferred Social distancing when it's related to dating and warm embraces or even embracing old friends. And this was decades before the present pandemic.
They seem to worry about close contact the way the Mormon's encourage special/holy underwear that prevents a person from fondling themselves even though God's intention was for people to be reproductive. Nothing like rising to the occasion.
I have no idea why a Mormon would consent to wear the holy underwear and then have an immediate need to run to the bathroom and deal with number one or number two issue. Usually both.
My wife and I decided in the early 1960's to ignore the WT's rule that one should not engage in oral sex and that......before having sex........ one needed to pray to Jehovah.

Where is Lazarus today? Probably in Salt Lake City.
