also, i had thought about past watchtower articles or publications related to this topic and did some research and found this from our readers ask if adam was perfect, how was it possible for him to sin?.
well, then, did god create adam with a moral weakness, so that he lacked the ability to make sound decisions or to withstand temptation?

A decent religion needs to be focused on the needs of humanity. Education, good health, food and shelter and a reasonable ethical balance. We lift each other up, we make people accountable, we care for one another if their is a god in this..... He, She and/or IT has never shown up. We humans show up.

I did my pioneer service in a small rural congregation that had only one brother, who was the Presiding Minister.....this was back in 1960.
Since I had a one hour talk he needed me desperately to 'pay back' other congregations in the circuit who had provided their 'male only' speakers for the Sunday public talk. It wasn't as if I was special or very good at what was asked of me it was my achievement of being a male.
Looking back this was feminine racism which was practiced by any number of religions at the time and is still practiced within the religious community.
So we were the only two brothers in this small congregation. There was no other brother willing to serve. The rest were women and children. By default I became the assistant presiding minister .......... the Kingdom Hall School servant ........ the book room servant all at the age of 19. If we could have appointed sisters to these positions we would have been in better shape.
I soon became keenly aware that a number of these sisters were highly proficient in the door to door service. Two were special pioneers (150 service hours per month) and a couple of others were regular 100 hour per month pioneers. All were dedicated to going out in field service and conducting bible studies.
I became the field service servant. It became very understandable to me that if there was going to be an increase in attendance....... it was going to be caused by these sisters. As it was throughout the congregations world wise in that era and in that matter it sill is.
With rare exception the men were pretty much worthless in getting bible studies. They were too busy working to put food on the table and pay the bills. Their door to door service probably caused more harm then good.
Thinking back we had a cadre of highly qualified sisters who couldn't be used in any position of authority. What a waste of a resource that was. What a waste of a gift.

statements were repeatedly made at assemblies, conventions and in print that there was no career in “this system of things” so you don’t need a job with benefits or retirement, your fulltime job is to “preach the good news”!

I too have a 30 year history of volunteering in our beloved City. My wife of some 57 years teaches a water aerobics class for free...... three times a week. She helps the 'walking wounded', hip replacement, shoulder and knee replacement. Standing and exercising in the pool offers a stress free way to regain their health after surgery.

James when Jonestrown exploded they blocked the exit points. Trails and roads to allow families, children to escape. A religion like that is a mean son of a bitch.
It was all or nothing ......you got out or you died...... and they really wanted to kill you and your family.
Google the photographs of Jonestown. I look at them once a year to remind myself that the most sincere intentional religions can collapse and take everyone with them.
You will need a public voice and a following so don't avoid ripping the local JWs a new one....if they come at you.
In Jonestown it was all or nothing it was you and your family..... you got out or died.

many of the historical events that are highlighted as significant are from 100+ years ago in some cases.
The problem is that like any number of religions the WTBTS painted it's self into a corner.
How do you walk back a church approved teaching? If you do...... you weaken your believers.
What changed every thing was the internet. Starting in the late 1980's and then into the 1990's we finally had information about the WTBTS. All of a sudden we could second guess the historic claims..... if not all religions............ most of them. Many of these religions became boutique religions. The Mormons, the WTBTS, the Christian Scientists....people who were trapped in these newer religions began to question what and why.
I think we forget that the Jehovah's Witnesses or the WTBTS was formed in the 19th century as a publishing house. This was a time when a high school education was a big deal. This was also a century that flourished with many many new religions.
Looking back it is obvious that traditional religions were no longer providing clarity and a message that you could trust.You name it and there they were....... a bunch of new religions each with a message, a plan and a way forward.
People joined because religion was a mainstay of daily life.
We didn't know any better.
Lets remember that being a JW was also being in a social construct. Over the years your family, friends etc. were in those closed off and private religions. We had a vague idea of how it started but hardly a library had a history of the JW's. We went along and got along and only learned later that a lot of the trust we put into the Society and head honcho's....... was misplaced.
Their are tons of religions that turned out to be a fool's folly.
JW was just one of them and judged on many different levels...... a total failure. Their numbers are not the sign of their real value.........it's the intent that matters.
