my jw dad called me this morning and told me that he found my jw uncle dead, face-down on the floor in his home.
he's taking it hard.
i was shocked to hear him say that he wanted me to be with the family.
So sorry to hear about your loss. Many prayers and hugs to you and your family.

i really love this web site and yes i'm a jw still, have been for 8 years now, i'm 35 and am married to a jw and have two boys one is 1-1/2 and the other 5. for about 2 to 3 years now i'm starting to see that its not really the truth.
the brothers, sisters and elders dont really care about anyone, the watchtower is ruining my life, i have been depressed for awhile now and i'm on anti depressants as i started feeling suicidal as i'll never be good enough as i hate meetings, i hate going door to door, and it doesn't make any sense that jehovah will destroy good people just because they don't follow its doctrins.
its like saving to your son if you don't do what i tell you i will kill you.
Welcome,
I am so glad you are here. I too was raised in the truth. 21 years of it. I fought with depression for a couple of years. When I finally decided to DA myself I came out of the depression. Best thing I ever did.

local elder called tonite, with a witness on the phone to ask if it is true we were smoking ?
we said yes, and we know who told on us.
it was a ms who was at the club just last week with another woman, not his wife of course, while she was at the meeting.
Way to go you two!
Welcome to the club!

.
in which part of the planet are you?
i'm in the sf bay area, ca, u.s.a. i have been there for 17 years.. how about you?
About 35 miles east of Baton Rouge Louisiana.
i would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?
This didn't happen exactly to me but I caused it.My friend and I were young teens. We sat on the first row one night, and were laughing and cutting up.I said something to my friend, she started laughing and had to go pee. She didn't move, all of a sudden it started dripping off the chair. I laughed so hard. Needless to say we were not allowed to sit together for a long time after. She almost quit going after that but conscience got to her.
Oh well!

many at the silent lambs' site are sick of hearing the jws say, "wait on jehovah.
" in replying to a post about "waiting on jehovah," i went off on a little story telling venture, and this is what came out... contributed for entertainment purposes... grits :-).
the witnesses are probably thinking of scriptures like ps.
I really like the way you put that in to words. Sounds so true to me.
You do have a way with words.
ok, i'm new to this site.
i'm currently questioning a lot of things.
i do not want to be "preached at" by either side; that'll just make me leave.
Wolfgirl,
Just wishing you a hearty welcome. I am sure you will find what you are looking for. This is a great site for many answers. Try not to take what alot of people here tend to say. Though the majority here are some of the kindest hearted people you will ever meet, there are some here you have to take with a box of salt. So take your time and enjoy yourself.
Nice to meet ya!

one benefit that jws get from being jehovah's people is the knowledge of good hygiene.
before i came to be a witness, i did not think it was important to brush my teeth thoroughly or wash under my arms real good and use deodarant.
i also tended to be a pack rat with a messy car.
Just b/c one is poor does not give them the excuse to be unclean. I was raised very poor and every night we were wash clean. My mother always told me that just b/c one is poor there in no excuse for being filthy. Even if you don't have soap, plain water will get you clean. A wet washcloth will clean your teeth and gums. And it did not take the WTS to teach my mother about this. common sence tought her.
i dont know if you been asked this before but what made you give up your religious beliefs,i assume that not all on here were jehovahs witnesses so if you were not please say.well i will telll you why i left, i got baptised as a jw 2 yrs ago and then started to notice say 6 months after baptism that the followers didnt really heed the what they were being taught it didnt seem to motivate them in their hearts, to say display genuine love it was more like a routine to them to be at meetings, talk to same ones, read watchtowers,it seemed so mechanical like robots,im not saying this is what caused me leave because i was serving genuinely i was really interested in practising what i preached, but i found it hard because everyone wasnt trying to do the samething.so then gradually i started to question things and then i got the internet last year and was itching to look on these so called apostate sites, you see i wanted to prove these sites wrong but in the end i was proved wrong with things like prophecies, jws past history, etc.
so thats my story
I left b/c I noticed how they took the scriptures out of context.
The lack of love amongst themselves..
The lack of compassion.
The back biting.
The gossiping.
The hipocrisy.
etc.etc.etc....................................................................
