  i am one of the few people on earth who never had a jehovah's witness knock on my door.

  my wife was the first witness i ever met.

  i did notice certain personality traits after being around some of the people who left the religion.

  They are taught to see themselves as superior to me because they have the truth and I'm a non-believer. Does that do some long term psychological damage for the JW? Does it create narcissism?

  Yes. How else would you act if you believed you were in the one religion that had everything right, the only one that pleases Jehovah, the only one that he directs, and the only group that will be saved? Have you ever heard a JW admit to being wrong about something they believe? I haven't. Even if it's something that's changed, they use a euphemism-- "new light". It's never a mistake or untrue or wrong, it's a new understanding. I find it absurd to believe that out of the thousands of religions and millions of people in those religions, I happened to be born into the only true one.

  so what kind of people are drawn to the jehovah's witnesses?mostly i'd say unhappy ones!

  (not talking about born in ones) .

  i look back at my life, and say it was my unhappy mother, who infected our family.

  The "happiest people on earth", huh? I can see the same things in both of my grandmothers who converted. They were both negative, paranoid people. I think that's part of why I was never happy as a Dub, I prefer to look for the good in everything.

  I'm Starting To Understand Atheist and Evolution

  for many years i was sincerely perplexed when someone told me they believed in the evolution theory or were an atheist.

  i never understood how someone could ignore all the evidence for intelligent design and overlook all the holes in the evolution theory.

  for example, the human biology clock is synced with the rotation of the earth, the earth is the perfect distance away from the sun to sustain life, the earth has an ozone layer to protect us from the sun's radiation, the earth naturally produces fruits and vegetables to be used for food, our bodies produce enzymes to break down the fruits and vegetables so it can nourish us, the earth produces water and oxygen, etc.

  Still no one has posted any type of facts that supports the evolution theory. All I'm seeing is more theories, assumptions, and speculation.

  Shall we call this selective vision? We have provided links with information for you. No one's going to hold your hand and walk you through it. Read it and see if it makes sense. Did you notice on Berkeley's website the article about the Atlantic tomcod's evolved resistance to PCBs in the Hudson River or the link that says "What is the evidence for evolution?" It makes no real difference to any of us if you believe evolution is true or not. Evolution won't send you to hell for not believing in it. If it makes sense to you fine, and if it doesn't, fine; just don't ever try to teach biology to my kid, that's all I ask.

  You know, I can watch graphic horror and films about demons and serial killers with no problem, but this guy really really freaks me out. Guess a JW serial rapist hits way too close to home. And that photo of him, taken after his arrest...this guy is a living nightmare.

  Are You Going To the Memorial?

  False Christians chose the modern Bible books

  one of the issues that i discovered when i took two years off from the jws to just study the bible is the contents of the modern bible do not even come close to matching the contents of the holy books that the first christians used.

  not even close.

  off by over 550 books.. now, the jws claim that the catholic church is false religion.

  I think they rationalize it by saying the Catholic Church was the Church Jesus established until an apostacy happened and it wasn't until JWs were selected as the FDS that they actually lost God's favor or spirit (or whatever you want to call it). I've don't remember ever seeing it in print, but I think they believe that God directed which books would be chosen for the canon; if he wanted those other books in there, he would have made it happen. (Otoh, if he wanted his name in the Greek Scriptures, he would have made sure it was in there.) But when you dig into what was going on back then and what the gnostic gospels that weren't included say, it's pretty clear the books were chosen for political reasons and for the survival of the Church.
