Funny highdose, I could see myself attending class MORE than once a week.......unlike the 2 meetings a week that I don't look forward to attending! You are SO right in that leaving Yoga I felt good about it, versus meetings make me feel as if I am not doing enough and leave me feeling bad about myself.

As I was typing, you were all responding! LOVE the smurfette yoga pants!! What a HOOT! lol
The class that I attended on Sunday had modern music that we moved to. I found it a bit challenging at times, trying to stay balanced with a few moves.....ie. the tree? lol BUT when I was finished with the class, I felt revived and did find it relaxing. It will be a compliment to my strength training and cardio training.
I can't tell you what it means to me for you to all respond! Just reading your responses has lifted my spirit. This is exactly why I love this group.
Makes me look forward EVEN MORE to class tonight!!! THANKS!!

Attending the class on Sunday, having known NOTHING of the origins of Yoga, I would have only thought it was a low impact stretching/balance class. The 5 minutes at the end where we were still and concentrated on our breathing and relaxing the body was just that, at least for me!
Reading the info on Yoga and the origins of it, I saw/heard nothing in the class itself that would make me feel as if there was any type of spiritual element in it. Maybe because it is at a large health club......where they have to remain neutral in their classes?
All I wanted to do was find something that I could add to improving my body physically AND in the process help me heal in the head. I am NOT the same person that I was before my df'ing. This is my therapy........

I needed a place to come vent. I went to a Yoga class last Sunday and LOVED it!! I am going again tonight with my hubby. A JW friend was supposed to "run in to me" at the gym and attend the class with us. I received a text from her today explaining that she had done research on Yoga and decided that she did not want to "take a chance in getting into is because it can be linked to spirits".
I am CRUSHED and OH SO disappointed in her right now. She has NEVER attended a Yoga class, so has NO idea what goes on in it. I am pretty sure that she looked it up in the WT publications or website. Which states specifically that a Christian would NOT want to participate in this type of exercise because "The objective of yoga as a discipline is to lead a person to the spiritual experience of being "yoked" to or merged with a superhuman spirit". So, instead of using her OWN head and deciding for herself on whether it is something that she would be ok with, she takes the WT word for it and misses out on something that would be SO beneficial for her as she suffers from fibromyalgia and arthritis and her dr. suggested that Yoga would be good for her to try.
I am looking forward to going to this class with my hubby tonight. It will be MUCH needed time together and something that will be a common interest for the both of us as we try to get fit together!
Thanks for the vent.......

"So healing does take place, you do build something new. Hopefully it's better and hopefully it's what you want. If it's not you can change, there's no time limit. You're in charge now."
WOW Chris, Not really sure what to say but WOW. What a powerful statement.....for me. I am in the process of finding ME for once. I AM in charge!
jehovahssheep......it does accesserate the healing when you realize that it is NOT what you thought it was.......too bad it takes a situation like mine to wake us up! Sad thing is there are those who DO go through something like this and feel as if it is a loving dicipline from Jah as I thought at FIRST. I was told that Jah must really love me as he diciplines those he loves. I was told that this was a test of my faith......that Jah wanted to find out HOW much I loved him. About 3 months of hearing that SH** my eyes opened and I said NO IT IS NOT A TEST.....THIS IS WRONG!! That was my AHA moment.
I posted to my facebook my 1 year anniversary and my aunt who has NEVER been a witness said this......"and the chain's of repression have been removed. YEA YEA YEA" How perfect! "The Chains of Repression". EXACTLY REPRESSED That is how I lived my first 40 years thinking that was THE way to live, THE ONLY way to everlasting life.
Thanks again!! Off to my FIRST yoga class!! YAY!!

I also wanted to thank you all on here who have helped with the healing process over the past several months that I have been posting. This forum while at times can be a bit intimidating, can also be a very warm and compassionate place to visit. My eyes are wide open now where as before I was blinded by my beliefs.
The healing process has been extremely painful at times. BUT I have become less judgemental of others feelings and beliefs and I am a stronger person because of it.
1 year ago today I felt as if it was the end of who I was as a person. Now I feel as if it is only the beginning of the person that I want to be.
thanks.......

Another religion using Watchtower judicial methods?
by donuthole ini saw this on reddit this morning.
not sure who the religious group is but if you change just a couple of words (church to congregation) it reads like a jw letter - the kind you get when they are wanting to get you into a jc or disfellowship you absentia.
it's weird how similar these high-control/judgment groups really are.

One of my good friends who was never a witness went to a church that disfellowshipped their members. Not sure if it was this one or not. They were members for about 10 years before they escaped.
