book marking for latter!
but our situation is very difficult and quite high profile.... i was raised as a jw and my mother was very strict and abusive.
i got baptized at age 14.. my mother actually called on my (present) husband's mom in service.
she was on the initial call resulting in his mom coming in the truth and him being raised in it from about age 8 or 9.. despite a very abusive step-father, he followed his mom's lead and came into the truth.
Welcome!
It is nice to talk to a group of people who get "it". No other group of people in the world know when reading your post know how real it is. We also can see into the future for you as well, knowing the years and years of shunning ahead for you, as well as the years of being the ones who are gossiped about in your cong.
I asked my mother the other day, "When you are out in field service and you come across a householder who loves her religion. Infact is overjoyed! She attends regulary, reads daily, has a personal relationship with God. Would you try to get her to become a Jehovahs Witness?" And so I ask you if you would make a new disciple, even though you would have to destroy someones faith to do so?
Yes? Then I implore you to go a little beyond your own comfort zone, expand your thinking, your love for God will only grow. There are alot of truths out there that might rock your world. Thruths are real they do not vanish and float away, however some of my former truths were like a childhood belief in Santa Clause.....and one day someone says, "Santa is not Real he is imaginary".....the gut reaction is to say "No he is real!!!" But it is too late the question is there, the bubble has been popped. We look it up, we look for proofs, and then we move on, we grow. Pryimdology, False Prophecy, 607, Dates (1914 1925,1975), the Cross, the Blood doctrine (this was my start...do some searching on this it will blow your mind) and the list goes on and on.
Make your truth real, read Crisis of Conscenience, read the bests of threads on this board, freeminds.org is a great start, and so is jwfacts. do the work...it will be hard. Pearsonal Stories is how I started to heal. And I didnt want to be an apostate either!
Congrats on the baby, I think you are in the best place for rebuilding, and I am excited for the 3 of you, and your husbands other kids. Healthy emotional balanced parents make so much better lives for their children.
Again Welcome, you have friends here.
i dont know how well this riddle will work in written form, this reminds me so much of the round and round reasoning jw (my mom) uses daily.. three men go skiing, and forgot to book their hotel rooms.
they find a hotel with only one room left, and the three agree to take it and share.
the bell hop kept 2 dollars.
Thanks Scott........keep your eyes on the dollars...lol
maybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?
in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.
one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm done with EggNogg.
He just told me I'll probably parish anyways.....that would be tragic if Jesus hadnt already died for my sins. WOW SOOO MUCH JUDGMENT!!!!
BY GRACE
recently i had the pleasure to examine a stash of 1920s and 1930s golden age magazines, among the rarest of watchtower publications.
i thought it would be a fun idea to have a thread in which i share with you some of the amazing, ridiculous, hilarious things contained therein.
hence, this is the first post of a series of excerpts, scans, etc.
Bookmarked!

I speak from my heart. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. (long before the internet and discovering this website) What lead me away from Jehovah's Orginization? No one is sure of their salvation. Every long lifer I ever knew felt not good enough for Jehovah, and worried everyday if they will make it. When my husbands 80 year old grandpa, who worked at bethal, wbbr, sold his house for 75, on his death bed is unsure if he did enough for Jehovah.....is thankful he will die in this system because then he will at least be brought back. And when my brother who struggles with reading and public speaking, decides the only sure way to the new system is the "underground railway" in a pine boxcar. My very very diligent very good JW mother, who has lived her whole life for Jehovah, does not think she is going to make it most days...unless she can do more.
I lived this life I know my reality.... I was preparred to die at arrmagedon. I never thought I could do enough to make it......although I kept trying and trying to live up to the standards. I UNLIKE YOU never ever ever went to webstites like this...I didnt even know they existed.
So needless to say when I read your reply:
Let me put it this way: Anyone that listens to you will die. There is no one that refuses to listen to us that will be saved. Period. By our paying constant attention to ourselves and to what we teach, and living our lives in accord with these things, Jehovah's Witnesses have faith thatwe will save not just ourselvesbut those who listen to us. (1 Timothy 4:16)
I say to you: YOU ONLY HOPE TO SAVE YOURSELF!
i have two living siblings, an older brother, and a younger sister.
my brother and his wife have had to move many times due to his job because of promotions, and new opportunities.
everytime they moved, it would be weeks before they were settled enough to begin attending meetings again.
I want my mom out, but I dont want to break her heat either. I am sooo happy and sooo sad for you both! But now true healing can happen!
when i ask my jw friend if she has read various classic books, she says, "i don't like to read.
" however, she of course reads all the wt stuff.
i don't know too many jw's, but the ones i have seen in the meetings seem mostly uneducated and, even when speaking from the platform, seem almost illiterate - that is, unable to pronounce certain words even in the wt literature.
Hmm how much do you wanna bet that the ones on this site are/were more of the readers? Reading does expand the mind and the thoughts.
Seb that scripture you speak of is now one of my fav, and helped me to break free. I was allways taught that scripture (just vrs 12) as a tool to make me stop reading so much worldly stuff. What a surprise it was to read it with a free mind....how did I not see this stuff sooner????? ECC 12:12 But to get the full contect read VRS 9 -14. You will never think of the book company the same again!
9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one shepherd. [a]
12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
13 Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
