I support the service that was done but I do not support any war on false premises.

Memorial Day.... still struggling with the idea of war and support
by Butterflyleia85 inso i do respect and am very greatful for the sacrifies those who dedicated their family, lives, etc.
to defend our freedom, lives, and land, but if we lived in a world where we lived as monks or jehovah's witnesses (basicly just the practise of no war).... would that be wrong?.
what's a good lesson or level of reasoning when supporting the idea of war?.

missing the JWD glory days
by fresh prince of ohio indon't get me wrong, this forum currently has plenty of interesting discussions and posters, but, for those of you who weren't on the old jwd board in the early-to-mid-00s, man...i'm sorry but you really missed out on the glory years of this forum.
it was really a special, unique place then.
again, not dissing the current, but, that huge exciting wave of ex-jw internet activity that occurred in the early part of this century seems to have leveled off.

EMOTIONS can tear you apart....but, not if you IDENTIFY their SOURCE
by Terry inmany people don't know why they "feel" what they feel.
they fall in love with the wrong person.
they cry unexpectedly.

THis is true we often let our emotions cloud our judgement.Often at our own peril

BREAKING FREE is going to cost....
by Terry inbreaking free is going to cost plenty!
family, friends, reputation, purpose in life and self-accusations.. .
the very same brain that gets you in to the religion is what you are stuck with when you get out.

That may be true but no price is higher than owning yourself.Well said Terry I felt sad when I left the JW'd but now I feel free to explore my world.

Sense of reality
by d insince leaving the jw's in 2008 i still struggle with a crisis of meaning at times.
i feel like at times life has no set purpose and we are just empty humans floating in space.i struggled a lot with this when i left in 2008 but so no much any more.. i feel like my set version of reality was falling apart and i felt at times i was falling into a deep abyss.. .
did any of you feel like that when you left the jw's?.

Can losing faith in God be a disfellowshipping offense?
by Emery ini have been pondering this question for awhile.
say a person during a shepherding visit with the elders were to simply state that they had lost their faith in god because of the subject of suffering-- would the elders still have grounds to disfellowship them even if the person did not actually commit a sinful offense?
instead of diving into all the errors, false prophecies, and lies advanced by the organization can somebody simply say, "i have lost faith in jehovah" and walk away without being publically denounced?

I told some Jw's I lost my faith in God and they have not bothered me since.

If there really is no God...
by Monsieur inif there really is no god, then man really only has himself to blame for all this mess.... .
blaming god or satan would only seem like a cop - out, and an excuse for opression.. man may not be able to stop a tsunami or a hurricane, but we can absolutely stop wars and opression, violence and hatred.. come on people!!!
why is this so difficult to accomplish when we have the capacity to do so???

Then we are truly responsible for our own actions to some that can be extremely frightening.
