Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inyou'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

When I go, I get a few nuggets but the nuggets aren't worth the time invested---let's see getting dress, having to shave/haircut, using my gas/car.
I can get 10 times more benefit here, in the comfort of my home, without judgement(for the most part)

Why I Like the "Proclaimers" Book
by t33ap80c inwhile it is true that the "proclaimers" book is not always as open and honest about the society's history as it claims to be, it is open and honest enough to bring into question the society claim to being god's organization.
it's a matter of (1) knowing what to look for, (2) where to find it and then, (3) to be able get the sense of what it means.. take for example the extremely important matter of the second coming of christ.... on the top of page 47 the book truthfully explains how president charles russell came to believe that jesus returned invisibly in 1874 to begin his second coming ("invisible presence").
and then a careful reading of the footnote on page 133 shows that the date of jesus' return was not changed to 1914 until 1943.. it is likely that even if some witnesses notice that fact, they do not get the sense of what it means.

To go beyond things that are written and make the 'truth' from presumption, all seems to be an acute form of Eisegesis.

It is interesting how creative they can get as far as getting, your money, but how old fashion WTBTS is when it comes to spreading their message.

Watchtower 1954 claims Jesus had nice short hair and NO BEARD....remember the pictures?
by Witness 007 inflicking thru some old watchtowers i was suprised to see pictures of jesus clean shaven with short hair!!
wachtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower books now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
...because he was shown that way in representations of him that are older then traditional effeminate looking pictures..." {having a beard is not so effeminate may refer to long hair}.

That was one thing that turned me off when I went to BK, for a tour when I was younger----- a clean shaved ,blond haired, blue-eyed Jesus, much like a Ken doll.

The longest prayer you had ever endured.
by african GB Member infrom personal experience i know it usually happens at the end of a district convention.
it would be either the do, co or an experienced elder.. they usually go through everything that was said throughout the dc and thank jehovah for this and that...... last year i used my stop watch to record the time taken by our do,.
by the time he said amen!

I have been apart of prayer so long at a DC's that the brother forgot he was praying, and then ask us to turn to a scripture.

Will I ever break free from primitive JW thinking?
by Mad Sweeney ini had an extremely disturbing thought this morning.
here's the story (or "experience" for jw readers):.
all week i had been waiting for pay day.

It would have been good to give credit to yourself for having the foreknowledge to budget/save, even if it's use wasn't on what you intended.
It happens that way for me with prayer bout twice a year.(not a conventional person who prays)

Take a line from 'JC' and tell your story in parables. It would then make it less prone to personal attacks.
Looking forward to more Fark!

Window Washers
by dontplaceliterature inquestion:.
why do i see so frequently the witnesses referred to as "window washers" on here?
i have been a witness (though only recently "conscious") for my whole life.

IMHO, Farkel is one of the better posters here, he is clever, witty,-----He is this forum's Larry David.
