Large scale War in the Middle East
by designs inis this spreading conflict, war, in syria and iraq, inevitable and some argue necessary.. new leaders rising with napoleon size ambitions, old monarchies trying to hold on to power.. religious ideologies and groups challenging one another.
battles for natural resources and redrawing lands and boundries.. are there parallels to wwi and wwii..

That's essentially what Chinese strategists advised rulers to do. The smart thing, was to outwit your enemy in some other way.
And, if you had to fight a war, then try to make it short, or else you'll finish up poor.
Sun Zi's, The Art of War advises: "Anyone who excels in defeating his enemies triumphs before his enemy's threats become real".
Having said that, there's some excellent examples of military stupidity in Chinese History.

Band on the Run:
There were many Christianities at the same time. I assume that each local area developed its own model. My hunch is also that such communities evolved as circumstances required.
Scholarship speaks of Jewish Christianity. It must be the oldest model, picking its way carefully through a maze of Jewish customs. Some think it survived the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE, albeit with scattered believers. But Jewish Christianity is unlikely to have survived the brutal Roman suppression of the Bar Kokhba Revolt in the years 132-136 CE. The Emperor Hadrian prohibited the Jews were prohibited from entering the site of Jerusalem (except for one day a year) and renamed the city, Aelia Capitolina.
Babylonian Judaism (i.e. the Jews who did not return to Jerusalem after Cyrus the Messiah gave permission for them to return), became the spiritual centre for the Jewish religion.
Antioch must have been a strong centre for early Christianity also. That community seems to have been well-organised. (and, we recall that it was that community where label 'Christian' was first used.) It would be interesting to know how it varied to Jewish Christianity? And, were any differences in their beliefs the result of the Jews who became Christians, being differentiated to the Jerusalem Jews, in some way?
Scholars also speak of the Johannine Christian Community and the Pauline Community. In what ways were they different (if at all)?

Now that's an idea I have not come across ( that I recall, anyway). I wonder if you have any more information on that point?

Brothers told to pack an "Armagedon survival bag."...bid gossip in Aust!

Hmm! Back in the day (i.e. 1975) when the biblical tribulation was on every faithful witnesses mind, many brothers (at least in Aust.) had emergency supplies packed away.
They came to be known as, "tribbie bags."
I remember an Aussie circuit overseer (name of Vaughan Guy - is he still around?) poking a bit of fun at the idea of 'tribbie bags.'

...or, any other political entity - like say, the Mongolian Empire, arguably the largest contiguous empire ever created in the world.
But let's stick with the Roman World power. When did the Roman Empire end?
We could construct an argument that the Roman Empire existed into modern times, in a different way.
How so, the Romans themselves through Constantine, transferred their seat of government to Constantinople, now Istanbul. Often called, the Eastern Roman Empire, it continued to exist and to have significance until (at least) 1453, when Constantinople was captured by the Ottomons. If you use the concept of 'political power transference' that is used by those who want to give prophetic value to these Biblical stories, surely the Ottomon Empire (under Mehmet II) would have absorbed the Roman Empire. The Ottomon Empire lasted until WWI. Since it became the leading political representation of Islamic power, wouldn't it be symbolically significant in any cosmological description of the time of the end.
And, couldn't we further argue that the USA has been defeated by the remants of Islamic power.
For all the lives and money expended in Iraq and Afghanistan, the USA has been unable to contain Islamic power. Nor had the USA been able to contain Islamic political power in Iran, where since the CIA (at the behest of the UK who had been politically neutered) conspired to overthrow the legitimate Iranian government of Dr. Mossadegh. The CIA filled the political vacuum by returning the deposed Shah to power, only to have its nose rubbed into its own sewerage by the succesful Iranian Islamic Revolution.
If all that unrest had been unambiguously foretold by some biblical prophet (preferably Jesus) , one may have some respect for Biblical prophecy. Without such detail bible prophecy is like the Emperor with no clothes.

Singapore's Pink Dot celebration
by fulltimestudent ina few years ago i had an opportunity to discuss the situation for gay people in singapore with a gay chinese man from that country.
he told me that despite the fact that the singapore government persisted in retaining an old british law that criminalised male to male sex, and that the government banned any normal method of protest, that gay people in this small (essentially just one city on a small island) had decided not to use western methods (i.e.
as used by gay groups in western countries) but to basically use a large picnic to celebrate their sexuality.. this was the first i'd heard of what has become known as singapore's pinkdot.. starting very small it has grown.

Haha! Billy, U don't get it do U? Bloodstains look so dramatic on white clothing. You can clearly tell where the bullets have entered the bodies of the dead.
Are these Muslims planning any kind of protest, silent or otherwise, to try to end the Muslim bloodthirst?
Don't hold your breath, mate!
But, please note that Christians do precisely the same thing. They yell and scream about sex, and quietly go off to kill someone when their government tells them to do so, and then boast about being patriotic.
My GAYXJW friend maintains that there are better things to do with men, than trying to kill each other.

In that pik an innocent little crested pigeon was quietly having a feed of berries as provided by Yahweh (as you see, in what remains of its belly) - and along comes this sparrowhawk and wants the poor little pigeon for ITS breakfast.
