If you have not seen that image yet, it shows a young Syrian boy who drowned (possibly with his whole family) during their attempt to flee Syria and reach Greece.
If Donald Trump thinks the USA has a (economic?) refugee problem, then he ought to take a trip to Europe.

Anything we know, is just the tip of the iceberg.
The caste system (upper class, and the Dalits or untouchables) is part of the Hindu worldview.
This video is from an Indian TV news.

Is the Koran (or, parts of it) older than Muhammad?
by fulltimestudent inislamic tradition rests on a foundation of the (claimed) writings of muhammad, that we know as the koran (or, quran).
so in that view believers see him restoring the original monotheistic faith of all the prophets ( of the west asian tradition).. its important to know that muhammad was born in mecca (in arabia) somewhere around 570 ce.
his parents died when he was young, and he was given into the care of his uncle abu talib.

The topic intrigues me because there is some contention regarding the traditions associated with the beginnings of Islam.
A german academic, himself a convert to Islam, has contested the authenticity of Muhammad. I find it difficult to go that far, but can wonder if it all happened as Muhammad claims.

Diogenesister: you are quite right TRUE religous fundies like the WTBTS would willingly destroy all ancient monuments as being symptomatic of Satans' system and worthy of destruction.
I guess, if the predictions of the BIG A hitting around 1975 had been correct, we ourselves (if we had survived the Yahweh/Jesus combo god's big purge) would now be engaged in just the same work. For the True God surely would not permit the continued existence of anything pagan, now would he?

Its important to know that Muhammad was born in Mecca (in Arabia) somewhere around 570 CE. His parents died when he was young, and he was given into the care of his uncle Abu Talib. As an adult he mostly worked as a trader. For whatever reason he seems to have felt the need to be alone at times and would got to a mountain cave for meditation and prayer, and it was at this place that he tells of being visited by the angle Gabriel and given a revelation, specifically for him, from God. It is said that he was aged 40 at that time, Hence the earliest he could have started writing down these prophetic messages is around 610 CE.
But ...
We now come to a recent discovery. Filed away in a library in Birmingham UK was an old manuscript - contained part of the Koran. Like most ancient manuscripts these days, it was subjected to a battery of tests in an attempt to establish its age.
So now jump to the news story to see how old the experts think it may be and what the implications are for the dating:

Two Indian sisters to be raped as 'punishment' after brother eloped
Two sisters in India - one aged only 15 years - are to be raped as "punishment" for their brother running away with a married woman from a higher caste in the latest case to shock the country.
Meenakshi Kumari, who is 23, and her younger sister, will then be paraded naked with their faces blackened through the streets, according to a ruling from the all-male village council. The family are from the Dalit caste, historically known as "untouchables". However, the brother fell in love with a woman from the higher, Jat, caste. (but) The woman was forced into an arranged marriage in February with a man from her own caste despite her relationship, according to Zee news, citing the elder sister Meenakshi. The couple (then) eloped in March, but returned to the village after the man's family were allegedly tortured by police.
The village council then made its ruling that the Dalit family should be dishonoured to "avenge" the brother's supposed crime.
Meenakshi and her sister ran away to the capital after the ruling was handed out and were able to submit their petition for protection for their family at the Supreme Court. However, they are still facing the punishment when they return home.
Khap panchayats are the archaic systems of village justice that exist in much of rural India. They are dominated by the Jat caste and are almost always run by male village elders.
The "courts" often order honour killings and sexual "punishments" and are frequently allowed to operate completely outside the Indian legal system, despite the Supreme Court labelling them "kangaroo courts". Jats are powerful sources of votes and few politicians have been prepared to challenge the system. -
