A different perspective, the problem of love in an arranged marriage:
A Young Malay Woman Is Trapped In A Marriage She Doesn’t Want
Child marriage is usually told as a loss of innocence or problems of economy, but we forgot to ask 'What about her desire? Her sexuality?'
A story about a high school girl in a rural area. She just reached an age where a boy has caught her attention and possibly heart when her family had to marry her off to an old man to help with the financial situation at home. All that could go wrong had gone wrong as she discovered how the old man is related to the boy she likes.

But when you're old, it may be even more complex, whether we are str8 or gay, as this 36 minute Malaysian film attempt to demonstrate:
‘Hello, goodbye’ tells a story of two older strangers who find love and happiness in each other’s companionship. Sharing his distinctive style and skill in film art, Tan Seng Kiat’s newest short film aims to prove that like so many other things, love and happiness only improves with time.

Scientists Should Not Dismiss Genesis So Quickly

I should've added a serious note - that all the sceptics here were once firm believers. Our roads to scepticism have been varied, but reflect the trend in the world.
In Aussie land, roughly a third of the population have moved on from superstitious belief in magic as the source of life. And, only about 5% of the population can be found in a hosue of worship on any given sunday.

Chris, hang around mate. There's lots to learn. Psalm 104 praises Yahweh for his wonderful creative works.
I have plans (during my summer break) for a grand opus on the interesting fascination that the Yahweh/Jesus design team had for producing such a huge variety of unusual phalluses.
Phalluses are a neccessary part of life, but it's in this field that we have an insight into the minds of Yahweh and Jesus, as we see not just the rather simple human variety, but the amazing assortment evident in the sub-primate life forms.
All lovers of Yahweh and Jesus will enjoy this thread when I get to it.
And, since scientists are starting to realise that they have given little attention to the socket, which every phallus needs to function and are now starting to focus on that part of animal anatomy, maybe in the southern hemisphere summer of 2015-2016 I can post a series of images demonstrating the Y/J design team's unsurpassed skill at designing unusual sockets for unusual phalluses.
Join with me now in reciting -
Psalm 104
1 Praise the Lord , my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
24 How many are your works, Lord ! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number—

Chris, You're going to spend eternity on just the first chapter, mate (grin). So I urge you to quickly move on to the next chapter, and humans - who are far more interesting than stars, thou8gh we are made form the elements of stars.
Now here's a conumdrum to puzzle your searching brain.
Did Adam have nipples? The answer to which question affects the human condition of Jesus, who is posited as the 'second Adam.'
We appreciate that those of us who are born of women, have nipples (albeit smaller, as I've noticed during various explorations with women) because for the first 5-6 weeks after conception, only the X chromosone is affecting our growth.*
But Adam, according to scripture, was a 'direct' creation of the Yahweh/Jesus as the word**, design team. So did they make him with nipples or did they produce him as a product of the Y chromosone only?
To assist you in your deliberations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1Kdoja3hlk
Of course, (I must be fairminded here and bring up alternative ideas to the above there are those who maintain that the Yahweh/Jesus design team produced Adam much as we look, except that he had within him all the female elements etc, (which were removed to form the woman, as symbolised by the rib) which of course, meant that he had female hormones coursing through this body, which in turn meant, that he had very nice fully rounded breasts with attractive nipples on top like a cherry on a pudding.***
Which of these two scenarios do you you think of as 'biblical truth?'
----------------------
Notes:
*So women first, men second, which is not how the author of Genesis saw it, but then, without modern science how could s/he know that?
** Proverbs 8:22, 30-31
*** the truth of that version, so its supporters argue, is preserved as a distant racial memory in the body's of some young men, who dissatified with normal male breasts, want the sort that Adam had, before he lost his female elements , and who take hormones to 'grow' the larger original Adamic breasts.
And, having met a young 'femme-boy' from Thailand at a party last saturday night, I can vouch that they can look better than the all-female sort. In fact, s/he nearly enticed me into bed, but I could see that his boyfriend was watching and not looking happy, so I decided discretion was the better part of valour and not to be centre of a domestic crisis.

Opposition groups (such as we are) always thrive on rumour, as they react to an agenda set by their former colleagues.

Brings back memories, thnx for posting Hortensia.
Another memory! Snuck away from a circuit assembly once to hear Cleo Laine and John Dankworth at a concert. Wonderful. Come to think of it, that's likely why Yahweh got pissed with me and chucked me out of his wonderful spiritual paradise.
Here they are together from 6:30.

Questions concerning Deng Xiaoping
by fulltimestudent inon another thread band on the run requested that i answer certain questions she put to me concerning deng xiaoping.
i requested another thread for that, one wasn't started so i start it myself.. i see the questions are reasonable, at least for someone who (admittedly) claims to know little about china, and i have no issues about answering them.
like all humans deng xiaoping, is a mix of good things and not so good things.. in telling deng's story, i have no wish to distort history, i see no reason to tell "outright lies about the past, or to omit facts that may lead to unacceptable conclusions or to gloss over anything with a quiet, slight admission that is buried by some other detail.
