It's all there in the book Of Pharisees 1:1-69:69, an imaginary book every elder seems to be able to quote from.

JW directives you thought were downright stupid
by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

"We listened to my mom tell us.. How all those poor happy worldly kids, can only get presents once a year..''JW`s can give presents all year loooooong''.."
I was told this all the time as well. But actually even that was a big lie. Without the official days for gifts, like birthdays and Christmas, there was nothing to prompt my parents into action. We hardly ever got gifts, and many other kids I knew in the Org. were in the same boat.
I did go to an elder's house once and see a normal 'Christmas' scene - Turkey and Christmas Crackers, decorations up. They explained it all away by saying they were celebrating their wedding anniversary...ha

You should be able to tell someone in the hall is a pedophile because they do not say prayers.
by life is to short ini was talking with flipper on the phone the other day and i mentioned that the cobe formally the po told me that.
i have been told so many stupid things in this religion when it comes to pedophiles that i never truly thought about it before and i just said it to flipper in my conversation.
that is the stupidest thing i have heard.. so i thought i would do a thread about it.

"So anywho I got into huge trouble for telling this mom of a little three year old girl that he was a sex offender. I had told her not to go the elders but to just check the internet herself. Of course she would not go near the big scaring internet and went straight to the elders instead.
The PO COBE said to me "Sister LITS the members of the congregation all know that he is a pedophile because he does not say prayers. You do not need to tell anyone."
I assume from what you say above that this mom did not know. And that is the starting point to kill the logic from that elder prat. I would have said if all the congregation knows, why is it this mom does not? If this information is on the Internet and in the public domain you have every right to tell anyone you like. If the elders don't like it, let them reprove you for gossipping or something, then you can tell everyone you were reproved and why...it's not gossipping if it's about yourself :)

How long into the future do you feel it will take before the majority of mankind give up on "God" to solve their problems?
by StoneWall ini mean the above question out of sincerity and honesty and not trying to belittle anyones beliefs or lack there of.. my point is if armageddon don't happen or the rapture within the next 1000 years or so, how long will man keep holding out hope for a divine being, whether it be jesus, jehovah, allah or "fill in the blank" to come and solve all the problems?.
do you feel that there is a timetable of any sort?.
if god hasn't manifested himself/herself/itself in say 5000 years from now to all mankind, do you think the majority at that time will still be clinging to a belief in a higher power if nothing at all has changed as far as their "appearing, coming, calling us to them etc."?.

The majority of humankind has already given up on 'God' to solve their problems. Next stop is to work on those who still hold on to this illusion, but I can't see it being longer than a decade or two before there are less than 10% that have more than a nominal cultural belief.

"giving this baby the label of "born out of wedlock" - What Century are you living in?????????
Does anyone use the word 'wedlock' still? If this person did not want to get 'locked' into marriage for whatever reason at that time, it's their right.
As for this situation, sadly I must say that from all the similar situations I have observed, and that's a lot, it has NEVER worked out in the end, unless he left the JWs again or you joined them (which is mental suicide).

Aug. 15th WT - WT Society Dissing Internet Again - All JW's Beware !
by flipper inwe always know when the gb or wt leaders are nervous and worried about potential alleged " threats " to jehovah's witnesses - because they repetitively keep mentioning these perceived " threats " in talks at assemblies or in wt articles constantly.. the " witness only " august 15th wt is no different.
in a non-study article entitled " the internet - making wise use of a global tool " once again the wt society instills doubt and fear into witnesses by " warning " them about use of the internet.
3 " while the internet can provide valuable information, save us time, and serve a useful function, it can also misinform us, consune an inordinate amount of our time, and corrupt us morally.

"Internet search engines might be compared to a legion of mushroom pickers who tirelessly collect all types of mushrooms- edible as well as poisonous - throwing them into a single container and dishing them out for us to eat."
I guess that's an improvement on a previous illustration in which they said the Internet was a garden full of poisionous snakes.....

"A country that had so much potential, until an unbridled dictator took the reins. They never recovered"
Not strictly true. The economy has been growing at 4-5% each year for a few years. The problem is the rampant corruption, which is, according to the UN, the worst in Asia. This is not Marcos' fault but the fault of successive presidents. The last president, Arroyo, is widely considered to have been the most corrupt of all, even more than Marcos.
This means the poor look to religion for hope, and the JW's, as just one amongst a colony of religious vultures, are there for the easy pickings.
Do not think these numbers are all that high, however. This is a country of 90 million, so 200 000, probably including any kid over 8 who goes out with mom door to door, is a tiny number. Religions there normally count members in the millions.
Door to door activities alone do not count for growth amongst JWs there. Compare LDS Brigham Young University Newsnet quoting senior missionary Dave Brinsfield: "Out of the 49,000 converts who joined the church in 2001 and 2002 [in the Philippines], only 1,000 remain active."
