@MrMonroe Your opinion is no less and no more valid than mine or any one elses. Many on this board have made similar comments to mine so I'm not sure why you decided to single me out, but I won't be losing any sleep over it. http://www.magistratescourtvic.ozehosting.com.au is a fake site, and that raised questions. If you can't understand that, that's your problem, not mine.

Steven Unthank: What do we really know?
by SweetBabyCheezits ini'm gonna play the skeptic today on a topic that is painful for a lot of people on this forum.
my intent is not to stir anything up but to make sure facts are confirmed.
bear in mind, i'm sickened by the wt's role (and the heirarchy down to elders) in child molestation cover-ups.

@sizemik, your reply was reasonable, thanks. I am reading from a few posters that they say the cases are real and that is encouraging. I have no idea why in such a circumstance anyone would need to set up a bogus website to confirm it.
I have tried to verify it myself by going to the website for the court and so far I have found no references at all. So, contrary to your assertions, I have looked.
I appreciate you saying you did not agree with his approach on a number of levels. I think this is the reason why it disturbs people, including me. The cases may be real but his way of publicising it is dubious at best and raises more questions than they resolve.

If you go to https://dailylists.magistratesvic.com.au/search-court-lists.aspx? and run a search for the case numbers at Latrobe Valley, each time there are no results. If the cases are real, I can't find any reference to them on any genuine court or government website yet.

Something very odd about all of this. Why would someone set up a fake site?

Steven Unthank: "The above pencil drawing is an image of a young child in the Traralgon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses that was recently raped by a fellow member of the church."
"About a week ago I was sent a pencil drawing of a young girl crying. The picture touched my heart and the pain of this child's helplessness made me too shed a tear. The image came from the family of a young rape victim in the Traralgon Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses."
"I decided to use this picture as an “image”, not just to represent the abuse inflicted upon this families child that I have grown to care for, but for all the children. Last night I posted the image on this web page and described it as ”an image”. I used the phrase “image” to describe the drawing in the sense of a ‘mental image’ and a ‘representation’."
So basically, in my view, Unthank has been caught lying and using an image he found online somewhere, which he claims a parent sent him, and this is his way of correcting what he said in order to get out of it.
I remember previously suggesting the letters that were supposedly from the children and parents involved seemed fake to me, and I was chewed out over it. I still don't think they were genuinely written by the parents involved.
The court cases were valid, and Unthank did a great job bringing them forward. His actions resulted in the WT changing their policy and in future they will comply with the law. I commend him for that.
However, I also think his methods of publicity are dubious, and do nothing to add legitimacy to his valid cause. It's an important subject, it does not need these stunts.
P.S. This is my opinion. I ask that certain ones avoid abusing me for expressing it. -

Reading COC was a life-changing moment for me. Every JW and ex-JW should read it.

"At the end of the baptism talk the speaker tells the baptismal candidates that their loud and clear affirmative answers to the two questions qualify them as ordained ministers of Jehovah God."
This is correct and is the JW view. BOTR, the JW's believe baptism provides the legitimacy and ordains them. So whatever your views of ministers and ordained may be, in JWland they are ordained.

It's clear people did like Shelby as a person, but I have to say the blatantly insane religious views are not missed by me in any way.
