As Smartphone use increases, so occult and unexplained incidents decrease. Either spirits are scared of cameras or it was always BS from the beginning. My bet is on total BS!

How can anyone really be a 100% confident atheist given the paranormal and occult?
by yadda yadda 2 ini don't believe the bible is inerrant nor do i hold a 'christian worldview' any longer as my profile details say (which i am unable to update on my profile), but i just can't see how anyone can be absolutely 100% confident there is nothing out there we can call a 'god' or spirit creature in the face of endless first-hand accounts of paranormal and occult experiences that felt as 'real' to the person who experienced them as anything else in their lives.. there are untold reports of ghosts, faith-healing, ouija boards, seances, spirit mediums, stigmata, mystical born-again experiences, speaking in tongues, and then there's hypnotism, ufo sightings, poltergeists, remote viewing, etc, etc.
ok, so its mostly only anecdotal evidence, but the amount of it is so overwhelming it is practically corroborating evidence.
in the face of all this, how can anyone categorically assert that there is nothing out there that is beyond ourselves that we might call a 'god' or spirit creature?

How often did you entertain the "Traveling Overseers", and did you regret it afterwards?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia ini found taking the traveling overseers out for a meal, to be a waste of time.
our literature regulary spoke of the upbuilding talk the local congregations received by entertaining our brothers.
now some of the modern cos look at their telecommunication devices, talk of things not related to our ministry or phone it in.

I can only assume Americans don't know how to cook. In the UK you entertain the C.O. at home.

Are Mormons "racist" towards black people?
by booker-t ini really do not know much about the mormon religion so i don't want to say things that are not true.
but mormons just give me a feeling of that they are "phoney" i just feel that in my bones.
i don't want to stereotype people but i live in the same apartment building with 5 young mormon missionaries.

In your average JW congregation you’ll have divorced families, single parent families, marriage mates going thru separation, feuds between congregation members, feuds among elders, disfellowshipped who attend are shunned, many members afraid to talk to elders for fear of disciplinary measures, pedophiles on the loose, pioneers, ministerial servants and elders who overindulge in alcohol, many JW members on mind altering drugs in order to cope and yes…. hypocrites. - JW GoneBad
Very well said. This EXACTLY what you will find in each congregation, but many will conclude it must be different, better, in other congregations, just not in theirs. This is how I used to reconcile what I was reading in the WT with what my own experience showed me, and I know many others did the same thing. Only now do I know it was all a big lie, that all congregations are in a mess and the love and peace they claim is as invisible as Christ's supposed return. Not even the bethels have that peace and love!

The government is most definitely to blame. Yes, the JW's have their own dubious morality and some window cleaner elder with an IQ under 80 thinks he is qualified to make decisions like this, but in the end if there is no law that demands it, there will always be abusers. I noticed the Catholic position is more or less the same as the JW's, and they represent a far larger membership than the JW's, who we elevate because of our past dealings with them, but really they are an insignificant turd in the UK.
Simply, there should be a law that demands it, with stiff penalties for those who fail to obey.

Did Snow White really bite on an apple? Was it red or green? Did Frodo really have a ring? How many carats was it? Did Angels in human form really eat beef? What cut was it, T-bone or Rump?
It's completely pointless debating who ate what, since the story itself is just a distant myth.

A JW called me a moron.
by shepherd inwell, i finally got a chance to discuss religion with a jw at the door.
i have been looking forward to it for a long time, now i know what questions to ask that will cause them to eat their reasoning book in panic.
but no, there was no long in depth bible discussion.

" Gone are the days when the JWs at least attempted to engage in debate"
Thats what I have noticed. The new 'generation' of JW's don't seem to know ANYTHING. The 'dumbing down' of the Watchtower etc has produced perhaps the most ignorant JWs ever. Knorr would be turning in his grave, after trying so hard with the Theocratic School etc.....I still remember sermon outlines...hahaha

haha DesirousOfChange :))
I have no idea what his standing was in his congregation. All i know is he was stood in front of me at my door offering JW tracts. After I saw other JW's down the street, so although he was alone at my door, he was not working alone. As we know even pedophiles can go from door to door so all I can say is he was a JW representative when he knocked my door.
I was very surprised it went the way it did....but in my years as a JW I even once heard an elder use the F word in a public talk as he got so excited retelling how the walls of Jericho fell down, so I know, unlike yadda yadda 2 , that odd things can and do happen.
btw that elder was so upset with himself he literally cried, and yet all of us laughed and felt so much sympathy for him no one was offended. As with most 'public talks' there was no one from the public there at the time.

yadda yadda 2 - I was not being a moron (at the time, lol) and I really was called one. But thank you for your comment. It's a good reminder of how I was when I was a JW - a judgemental dickhead. I'm so glad I was able to move past it. I hope one day you can too.

Yeah thanks sizemik...haha
Actually I was being really gentle because I was looking forward to planting a seed, but it was not to be.
steve2, I have never heard a JW use that expression before either, but if you saw the fear in his eyes when I held a bible in my hand it was priceless. I was a brainwashed JW too at one time, and I hated going door to door, but if I could have a real chat with someone I was glad of it. People have mentioned 'dumbing down' and I agree, but I never realised how poor their 'skills' were these days. Of course, he could be an exception, but I have read similar tales in this forum so I'm not so sure it's isolated.
