Question 3 of this weeks Oral Review???
by Comatose in3.. why did jesus say that his disciples would not complete their circuit of preaching "until the son of man arrives"?

Well, Comotose, some would conclude that maybe this is the application.
However, when Jesus returned, he told his disciples to continue working and making disciples Mtt 28: 19,20.
When he returned in the 1st century, he didn't start judging the nations, yet.

Mormons Take One From the JW Playbook
by breakfast of champions inlink to the article here.. suck kids into meaningless work right out of high school, get them away from those damn universities, and make your "numbers" look good.
more mormon missionaries may mean fewer college students .
salt lake city jorgen sumsion spent the fall semester studying biostatistics at brigham young university, but he's not enrolled this semester.. .

Well, at least after serving their term (2 yrs, for men, 18 mo's for women) they can return to universities/college. Certain countries make it mandatory for young one to enlist in Military service for some time before continuing on in their education.
Our problem is we don't stop harrassing our members to do more in service. We suck the life out of them.

Splash: Why is there a need for the preaching work if Jesus judges the hearts?
Good point. All we know is that Jesus started this work, and told his disciples to continue it, but they wouldn't be able to finish it.
This raises many other questions. Are JW's preaching method in line with what Jesus expected? Is the work redundant? Should Christians leave this assignment to other methods? Should Christians avoid it?
Maybe the next Pope will have those answers.

No Comotose. I don't want to make a prediction of how and what will happen during that time. The scripture about not completing the circuit until the son of man comes means that not all will be approached with the message. The judgment will go on based on the heart condition.
"Told not to fornicate, eh?" Is that only what JW's talk about?

I don't remember the exact scripture, but, the return of the Son of Man, Jesus will do the judging of who is worthy, or not during the last days.
This is because only he can read the hearts of individuals . It's not whether you are baptised as a JW, are a JW, are a pioneer, irregular/regular publisher, DF'd or, under restrictions.
When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, there were other nations that came along and were invited.

Your Take On 30 Hour Pioneering

It is a spin that the Soc is using to get more hrs from the members. The numbers of those willing to Aux pioneer in Mar and April were falling when it was only 60 hrs. Then, magically the quota changed. There is also pressure on the Body of Elders to participate, too.
We've come a long way from the days of 75 hrs a month, and when you wanted to do it the following month the quota was 100 hrs. Of course that was the days of the "Lamp Book".
The soc has been creative with this new approach, but, like everything else it will eventually run out of steam. I give it less than 5 years.

Hello Matey(is it alright to call a lady from Australia, Matey?),
You are really not very different from many today who attend the meetings due to their loved relatives and mates. There are many moments that I find it hard to tolerate some of the programs, and my wife also gets the same way. We just carry on, and hope.
So you've been a Lurker for many years, eh? So was I.
Say Hi to Olivia Newton John for me, eh?

I challenged a Dub out in service
by LisaRose ini was sitting in my car, finishing an egg mcmuffin before going to the grocery store when i noticed a dubbie going around talking to people in the parking lot.
i thought the chances were good she would approach me, and i decided i was going to do more than decline to take the pamphlet.. after i verified she was a jw, i said that i was a former member.
i said "do you know what the awake said in 1969?

Good approach, Joe....hope you get over the flu. But, some have made out quite well financially, even without an education. This world has it's survivors.

I remember 1969. I attended the DA in New York City that year. Those were my rebellious years. I did my serious job hunting in 1977. I had to take some college courses back then. I went against the grain back then, but, now many are envious of my pension, and lifestyle. It's sure sad to see that many have suffered financial consequences for bad advice from four decades ago, and we are still being told this story.
Good for your courage.
