Oooops...I hope that my comments weren't interpreted as abusive, Juan. Sorry if they came accross that way. I was just expressing my opinions.

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

I don't see this as a Tithing (10%) commitment. I dont beleive that an Elder will sit with anyone and discuss finances with families. Our cong stands to benefit from this arrangement. We get to wipe out close to a million dollars of mortgage. There was 60 % in our cong that weren't making contributions. They still aren't.
I think that those that are mortgage free will have a beef with this. But, are we really mortgage free? Usually, when the mortgage is paid off, the taxes, and maintenance goes up. I know that we are tax exempt, but, for what reason? It's a Charity status. Since our mortgage was to last 15 yrs, that would of taken us to 2029. Maybe Armageddon will kick in by then

Two things.
1) I didn't read in that letter that cong's that is holding large balances are to collapse these and send it into the Society. Most of these funds are in their Maintenace Acct's for maintenance needs.
2) Tithing means 10% of your income. What seems to be expected from our family is only less than 1% of annual income. This is less than was we contribute right now.

It's a good way to flush out many Saphira's and Annania's.
Here comes the secretary with his inkhorn crying out loud, "Show me your income tax statememnts so I can place the mark ($) on your foreheads" Following him will be 6 MS's with baseball bats There mission is to crush those not displaying the mark.

We haven't seen anything yet, eh? Juan.
I remember the day when the society switched over to the voluntary donation arrangement, and the cong's just stopped asking for a donation from the public. Nothing gets mentioned about that anymore.
I remember that some just became inactive as a way to protest that arrangement.
The changes that your buddy is suggesting is enough to cause an earthquake. If such happens, I can see it gets reversed so quickly, with a bonus added such as, ok you can now acquire higher learning.

OMG...Is this the only photographer in New Texas? Why would you want to force someone to do something that they don't want to do? Haven't you been in a restaraunt, and preferred the nicer waiter over the nasty one.
If I was served by a nasty waiter, I'd be worried that maybe they would spit on my food. Can you trust that the photographer who doesn't want the job, to do a good job?
Move on, and ask Elton John, "Who did you get for your photographer?"
