The cong. I'm in now has an average of 14 hrs per month. But, a lot of the members and unemployed, or should I say Unemployable. Many are on Assistance. The working men are the ones that struggle with the 10 hrs, unless you were to count your coffee break time.

Is the 10 Hour Per Month Requirement Still In Force?
by Conan The Barbarian inare there any active elders/ms or higher out there who can advise if one of the requirements for appointment is that the person's fs time is equal to or greater than either the congregation's average or the national average?
this used to be the case, but may have been relaxed.
also is the branch still approving appointments?

A Nun lived in a convent next to a construction site
noticed the coarse language of the workers
and decided to spend some time with them to correct their ways.She decided she would take her lunch;
sit with the workers; and talk with them.
She put her sandwich in a brown bag and
walked over to the spot where the men were eating.
Sporting a big smile, she walked up to the group and asked:
"And do you men know Jesus Christ?"
They shook their heads and looked at each other.. very confused.
One of the workers looked up into the steelworks and yelled out,
"Anybody up there know Jesus Christ?"
One of the steelworkers yelled down, "Why?"
The worker yelled back,
"'Cause his wife's here with his lunch."

Tal: That snack with protein sounds like a good idea. I'll try it.
Arwen: I didn't know about that Victoza was available in Canada, yet. I will discuss with my Dr. I need to lose some weight also.
I have this carrot cake in the refrigerator, that needs to disappear. I hate to waste food.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that if you want to be appointed as a MS/Elder your wife shouldn't have a beard, too. She shouldn't wear a pants suit too.

Jgnat: Are you retired from the Civil Service? Don't you have a retirement drug plan?
Januvia is a new recent discovered drug, and that is why it is expensive. After a few years, the Drug Manufacturer has to publish the formula, and then a generic form will be introduced according to government regulations.
But, Januvia doesn't have that much of a success rate.

Yes, 10 hrs a month is the requirment for a MS/Elder but not documented. It probably is pencilled in the Elder's book. It's an unwritten rule...just like the beard thing. No where would you read that you don't appoint a brother who has a beard.
It now goes further in that the wife, and children must have close to that average. I remember when I served as a Elder and going through the questions for baptism, the CO chastised me for allowing a young person to be baptised who didn't get 10 hrs a month. He sure was a CO from Hell.
Now the wording they use in the publications is, "Must be visible, in service", or " Meaningful share in FS". That means out every week, at least the saturdays, and some Sundays.....do the math.

Finally Free: Apply for the Trillium, or Ontario Drug Benefits Program. This will assist you with your med's.
BOTR: I live in an area with good restaurants, but not where I work. I am surrounded with Junk food restaurants and only one hour for lunch. I know that I should bring a lunch, but, I'm not disciplined enough to do that. I know the nice wine list, and fine linens are hard to beat.
L-Cool: I love that rye bread, but, I love Crown Royal rye better.

BOTR: I shall look at the book you recommended. Wow..a lunch out is $30.00? What retaurants do you go to?
Jg: Great idea ....the plate is informative
Mouthy: You shouldn't want to kick the bucket. Life is worth living....thanks for your expression.
