  Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.

  i was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.

  ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.

  sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

  School for Couples - Age restriction raised to 65 yrs old

  wtf....apparently there is a new letter that states that the age for qualify for christian couples for serving where there is a new has been raised to 65. previous it was 55 yrs of age..

  That's right, Julia. Most stable couples are still working at age 55, especially in this economy. If someone could retire earlier, they would be facing a penalty from their retirement income. So, it looks like this window has opened up to make it possible for some to wait and retire decently, and afford to finance themselves.

  everyone knows about the recent across-the-board okay to use electronic devices in jw worship.

  few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.

  they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.

  I love my IPad. It was worth selling my wife and two children to get one. But, it is getting very tough answering those nosy questions about their wherabouts.

  there are rumors out, that the italy (rome) bethel is being shut down and putting out to pasture a large portion of the bethel staff.. has anyone heard anything... ?.

  the word is that everyone but the most senior members will be let go.

  the senior bethel family members will be reassigned.

  Watchtower and Women's Rights

  we are in the year 2014, women make up the majority of the jw population, yet are not given certain '''''''privileges''''''' simply because they don't have a penis.

  no talks, no leadership roles or the hope of them...ever, no matter how educated, zealous, or well spoken you are.. with the world moving towards upholiding women's rights do you see this becoming an issue that the watchtower will have to 'adjust it's thinking' on soon?.

  Human rights are being violated in this faith whether you're male or female. Nobody can vote, unless you are sitting at a congregation meeting and through peer pressure you are approving an expenditure that the Elders have recommended. Women just lost many years of progress, when they were told to wear a head covering in the presence of a baptised male, while conducting a Bible Study.

  The TMS still holds males without status, and women in a crazy school that no one graduates from. Talk about spinning your wheels and going nowhere.

  Well, announcing his name before a congregation as DF is a beginning of what is wrong with this DFing business. When a person is fired, they simply say he/she doesn't work here anymore. Eventually it becomes public knowledge.

  Through the grapevine this news will become available.

  Like some posters have already said, "Many CO's, and DO's Branch workers have been there". Should we create a list of their names, too? PM is probably more discreet, and private, but, it is a form of gossip.

  We shouldn't make ourselves look just as bad as the JW flaws
