i've read several posts lately that define what exactly can or can't get someone in trouble with the jw's and i'm a little confused.
how does the 2 witnesses to a sin thing work?
let me explain why i'm asking.. about 7 years ago a friend of jon's that he has known as a child contacted him via telephone.

Yadirf,
I realize this is probably a waste of time but i'm bringing this back to the top to see if you have the balls to answer my question.

BTTT,
Because I'm still waiting for Yadirf to answer my question regarding wife beaters and why they are not punished by the JW's unless there are 2 witnesses. Do you agree with the WT stand on this issue or not Yadirf. I realize this may be hard for you, but a simple yes you do agree with the WT on this issue or no you don't will suffice. It's that black and white, so I'm intrigued as to why you won't answer the question. You seem to have an opinion on everything else that is posted on this board.

And yes I meant to spell it KNOW, because that's exactly what the elders in that situation did, and yet did nothing about it.

Kaethra,
Seems as if your aunt did go thru the same experience as Jon and I'm sorry to hear that. What I still don't understand is how she could be accused and convicted of ADULTERY with a GAY MAN. Makes no sense to me, they must have just wanted to shut her up on the abuse charge.
Dave,
The hermaphrodite question is so very valid. Is a JW automatically kicked out if they are a hermaphrodite?? From other posts I've seen it would make sense to me that this would be a disfellowshipping offense. I mean come on, they would have a penis and a vagina in such close proximity that it would only stand to reason that a sin had occured. There must be something going on there. BTW I would give big money to see the 2 witnesses to that sin. LOL.
Yadirf,
I'm still waiting for your answer to my question about wife beating. Do you think the example above or the JW philosophy and treatment, or lack there of is the correct action. Please let me know your viewpoint, or are you too chicken shit to answer a legit question. And please, if you are just going to answer with a bunch of shit then don't bother wasting my time. I only want to know one thing, do you think it is right for elders to ignore wifebeating because there are not 2 witnesses to the crime. A simple yes or know will suffice.

Yadirf,
You said, "You just can't seem to get your mind off me, can you Kevin. LOL."
Don't flatter yourself big guy, the thought of you is almost enough to turn me straight. lol.
Ok so according to what you said then she was kicked out because she approved of something that the JW religion did not approve of. Is that what you meant, I just want to make sure that I am understanding you correctly. Then why was she told that she was being kicked out for ADULTERY. If she was actually being kicked out for approving of something the chruch detests then why were the elders involved not honest with her?
Also I see you didn't comment on the issue of why they did nothing about the abuse she was receiving from her husband. I would like to know what you think of that part of the situation.
Kaethra,
Thanks for your nice words. Jon was disassociated from the JW's when he was a teenager for smoking cigarettes. He was never baptised a JW but his parents were both JW's and that was how he was raised. A few years after he was kicked out he was advised that the JW's had changed the rules about shunning and disassociating people who had never been baptised. It never made much sense to me, but that's what happened. I hope that helps answer your question.
Take care,
Kevin

I'm doing ok. I've spent the last few days playing on the internet and trading snide remarks on this db with yadirf, which is kind of good at taking my mind off things.
She actually is doing great, she divorced the wifebeater and married one of my best friends about 5 years ago. I saw her yesterday when she stopped by to say hi. She brought her kids by to pick out a kitten from one of the 9 my cat Ethyl had a few weeks back. I took my eye off that damn cat for 1 minute and 3 months later, BANG a whole boat load of kittens. She's getting fixed asap after the kittens are gone.
I guess what I really don't understand is this. Both of her parents turned her in because they knew she was staying with us, but they wouldn't let her stay with them because they didn't want to interfere????? That just doesn't make any sense. And since everyone knew that Jon and I are gay, why was she charged in the first place. It's not like either one of us were going to sleep with her? But I guess you are right, cults aren't supposed to make sense so why ask why.
Take care,
Kevin

About 7 years ago a friend of Jon's that he has known as a child contacted him via telephone. They had been close friends until Jon left the JW's. She was having serious trouble with her husband, who Jon also knew, and she was afraid because he had beaten her and she had been told by the elders that they couldn't do anything to help her. She asked her parents if she could stay with them and they said they couldn't let her because that would be interfering in her marriage.(that made absolutely no sense to me) Jon offered for her to come and stay as our guest for a few days to sort out her thoughts and she accepted. Her father found out that she was staying with us and contacted the elders and they called our house and told her that she had been accused of adultery. She told the person on the phone that she was only staying with friends and that nothing had happened but they said that they had two witnesses, her parents, stating that she was staying in a house with two men and that they had to assume that she had sinned.
To make a very long story short, she was disfellowshipped. The final reason the elders gave her was that she kept denying anything had happened even though they knew she had spent several nights in our home. Here is the part I don't understand. She was staying in the home of two "known homosexuals", so who in the world did they think she was sinning with? Also, why is it that a man in that religion can beat his wife and she shows up at church with bruises and they don't do anything about it?
I'm trying to expand my understanding of the JW religion so any input would be appreciated.
Kevin
