  having now been out of the cult for a few years, it really shocks me about some of the nonsense i used to believe in.

  like for instance, christ ruling in the midst of his enemies, but doing so invisibly.. let's let that one sink in for a minute.

  you've supposedly got a king who is ruling for a kingdom, but it is an invisible rule.

  CO Comes Up With A New Way To Be Judgemental...

  at the latest co visit something very strange happened.

  during the meeting with the elders and servants he passed out a copy of a hypothetical publisher card and asked us what we could learn from it.

  upon receiving it i saw that the average hours were pretty good, it had return visits and quite a few bible studies.

  i was invited to a small get-together by a long time friend.

  we both served as elders for years.

  he is in his late 70s.

  I am in the age range of 30's & 40's. This is completely anecdotal but I wasted enough of my life being raised in this cult, no way I was going to subject myself and my children to any more of this shit. Some of the older ones have way too much invested in family and friends, they already indoctrinated their children and developed conditional lifelong relationships that would be very difficult although not impossible to start over.

  It would be interested to hear reasons for staying / reasons for leaving for people in this age group.

  being raised a catholic we had lots of crosses around the house.

  when my family converted to this cult they were all removed and destroyed in case they had demons in them lol but at this juncture in my life i do not even know if jesus as the way he is portrayed in the bible was real.

  yes a man named jesus did live and die 2000 years ago and probably on a cross but he was definitely not the son of god.

  I thought there was a scan of the entire source material that the S.I book took out of context explaining that the "stauros" was indeed a stake or pole. The dubs jumped all over this because it did appear to back up their claims. The entire quote goes on to talk about how it was most likely that another pole was attached to the stake to make the "t" shape.

  WTBTS quote mines the shit out of anything they can to back up their claims.

  On a serious side though... I had a buddy whos parents converted when he was about 14 or 15 years old. Even as a born in myself i remember thinking how much that would suck to have all the cool things that worldly kids had and then to lose them just like that. He bought into it though and is still a card carrying member. Glad you were able to gtfo.

  Plea to Governing Body and those with influence!

  this is a long shot to those with influence at bethel, particularly the governing body.

  if you happen to be a lurker on this site.

  please take into account the feelings of those who are affected or even hurting because of current teachings and policies emanating from watchtower.

  Who cares about the watchtower? They are not going to change. You have one mission... for your daughter to grow up an independant, critical thinking strong woman. I think its awesome that you encourage her to get involved. Keep doing that! Sports, clubs, dances and everything that normal kids do. Not sure how old your daughter is but she will see this scam for what it is soon enough. Have open conversations with her, talk about the inconsistencies of this church when compared with other churches. Have kids from school over, allow her to go to other kids houses. YOU are the man in a male dominated religion. Use that to your advantage!!

  She will get flack from her jdub friends and relatives but thats ok. Talk about it. Talk about what good influences are and what they are not. Religious preference does not determine what a good influence is. My youngest gets flack because she misses meetings and service because of her sports but guess what? SHE GETS TO PLAY SPORTS and be involved in NORMAL school activities. Like the scripture says.. bad association spoils useful habits. Give her some "bad association" and habits like service and meetings will be spoiled permanently!

  I am in complete agreement with you. If you want normal kids you cannot fade. The mindset of a JW poisons EVERYTHING. It is an incredible thing to realize that your children will never have to go through what we went through as born ins.

  Get out now, cleanly and your kids will thank you for it.

  Congrats!!!

  Give those toddlers a normal life!! As a fellow born in you know how destructive the cult mindset is. I left when my kids were about the same age. They are teens now and have very healty active lives. You are giving them a priceless gift by leaving!

  a hilarious stupid wa message is being circulated amongst jws in my area / country.. i had a hearty laugh at the ignorance and stupidity and brainwashed mentality, different people may express different emotions so you have been warned.

  day one after armageddon it seems ages since we last heard the gunshots and screams, today has been really quiet.

  the last few weeks have been sheer terror.
