  I disagree that the revocation of shunning will cause a mass exodus. While I dont doubt that a large group of people will leave, not shunning will turn this crazy ideology into a more mainstream crazy ideology. If you remove the penalty for bucking or 2nd guessing the system then you would be free to 2nd guess and still be in good standing. People will always believe in the prospect of pet panda bears and living forever... and what other church gives you the prospect of pet panda bears?!?!

  Alan Rickman's Passing

  alan rickman, best known to my generation as prof. severus snape from the harry potter film franchise, has passed away due to cancer at the age of 69.. growing up with a witness mother, anything related to science fiction and fantasy was looked down upon, so, naturally, i was a rebel rebel (oh david bowie...).. just wanted to let any potterheads know the news and that even if you feel like you'll never be free of the deadly watchtower, you're not alone and there's hope.. always..

  I'm ready to get my first Powerball ticket -- NOT!

  it's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.

  i've been out of watchtower for some 38 years now and i suppose the lottery is one of their nonoze.

  i have nothing morally wrong against it or anyone who enjoys doing it.

  If I win the lottery I am going to apply for reinstatement.

  I absolutely gauranty it will be the fastest reinstatement EVER.

  On a side note I had a buddy who could count cards and would go to ho chunk (nearby casino) and win pretty regularly. He would win a few grand, tell on himself, donate most of the money to the hall and then go back. This went on for a couple years.

  Hey closed.... Something you said is very important... "good friends on the outside" While my personal preference was to leave and I am glad of it, I think the important thing is getting your kids involved with this world. The jdub world is constructed to be exclusive and keep people in and it works very well if you dont burst the bubble. If you are able to burst that bubble at a young age it will go along way to helping your children see the bs in the church.

  While I do not think your reasoning that basically "all churches injure or hurt people" is a good reason to stay with the dubs... I see that as proof positive that I should leave any/all churches.... i guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

  Welcome to the forum... glad your kids are on their way out.

  It is very happifying to see that so many just left when they had kids. If you are a born in the "wait on jehovah" cancer is bad but at least it only affects oneself. If having kids in this cult does not wake you up then you might as well be in coma... which is what many of the "adults" in my kingdom hall were in.

  Everything is changing??

  hey all,.

  last night at the end of dinner my youngest asked me (still goes with her mother) if i had seen the new video saying "everything is changing" while i try to keep up w/ some of the videos, i have not seen anything that said this.. anyone know what gives?

  Born ins have a perspective that the converts will never have. If you actually had the mental lapse and chose this religion, that is your fault. If you were brought up in this bad joke of a religion you have my sympathy.

  For anyone who has the vision to see this religion for what it is and still subject his children to it is unforgivable. You can be a liberal jdub all you want but not everyone else is. My mother was not a hard core "end is coming" type of woman but I still went to the kingdom hall regularly. That is why I did not think this world would last until i was 20. That is a fucked up and damaging world view that is fostered within this church. You cannot escape it if you raise your kids in it. That is where these asshat elders stand up on the stage and spout truths that are viewed as coming from the mouth of jehfuckinghovah. Sure, as a convert you can say "well its not really from jehovah" but hear it enough as a kid and you start to believe it. THAT IS WHY RAISING YOUR KIDS IN THIS RELIGION IS COMPLETELY FUCKED UP!!

  Do you have any concept of what hearing over and over again "the end of the fucking world" does to a young kid??? Do you have any idea what hearing "is practice/games/boy/girl scouts/ more important than meetings or god?" over and over again does to a childs emotional development? This kind of manipulation intentionally destroys critical thining in kids. Not sure how young your kids are but wake the fuck up man and get THEM out.
