my name is stephen and i am new to the forum.

i am a christadelphian and through my discussions with fellow members of my ecclesia it has inspired me to reach out to other religions to find out exactly what others believe to enhance my own faith and further bring me closer to our heavenly father.

I think galaxie made some excellent points.

I guess before I could get into a biblical discussion with you I would need to know what you believe about the bible. Do you believe that it is literally god's word? Is the bible more or less good stories that we can learn life lessons from? If you in fact believe it is inspired by the creator of the universe, before I pattern my life after its teachings, I would need to know what proof do you have of this? and how is your proof different or more convincing then muslims have for their koran?

Just found out that my Mum is taking my 3 year old nephew to meetings!

to be precise, he is my brothers nephew but that makes no difference really.

mum is 71 and a true, hardcore jw.

she's a good mum but has a real blind spot where her faith is concerned.. i know her.

The good news is that your nephew is not completely encased in the bubble like you and I were. Jehovah this and Satan that was all we knew and that is what makes the dubs powerful. I know you said its not your kid but the mental capacity of your average 10 year old (especially with the encouragement of his uncle) is enough to keep this little shaver out of the cult. Help him reason and not to mention inform his parents and you will be good to go!

I also read the post about your brother and I feel a distinct kinship with you because of that story although mine is still in.

however professional and glossy their pr makeover is, as seen on jw tv and the jw org logo... the bottom line is that 19th century religious adventist claims are no longer sexy..

to outsiders the jw org now has all the allure of a donkey wearing lipstick..
