A faded JW about to see the Circuit overseer

so my mum who is in and really is finding it hard that i have left and faded.

shes asked me if i want to the the circuit overseer next week.. i have never met him and this is more my mum wanting me to get my problems i have with the organisation out.

but should i share everything i've learnt or what?.

I dont understand all the fear. This man can litterally do NOTHING to you. If YOU dont want to go then dont go. Get a free meal, maybe a beer or two out if it.

Obviously you are your own person. If he brings something up you dont want to talk about then tell him its none of his business. Go, or dont go but dont cower in fear to him.

The "walking on eggshells" mentallity is what allows the dubs to keep the control. I do understand that people want to stay in for family or any other number of reasons but at the end of the day, if you shrink yourself for family or friends you are only hurting yourself and as in indirect consequence, helping to keep the jdub bubble strong. Break the bubble!!

Just in time for Memorial season...

this is short and quick but maybe it's a seed to plant in the 10 days until the memorial.

i have talked to jws who tell me their reason for not eating the bread and drinking the cup is because that was only a new covenant with his disciples (and in their wonky extension, the 144,000).

but i just thought of a few things.

Those are excellent points.

Right before my kids have to go to the memorial with their mother I always ask them "what does jesus tell you to do with the wine and bread? and what do the elders tell you to do with the wine and bread?... Who should you listen to?"

If you are a christian and beleive the bible holds any weight, those two questions pretty much destroy any credence to the "sit and pass" mentality of the dubs.

3 year old saying: "I wanna be Jehovah's friend", how would you answer?

just looking for some of your views / advice:i am divorced and am together with my dear boy every second weekend for 2.5 days.

he is now 3 years old and heavily indoctrinated by his mum and grandmother.today he told me: "daddy, jehovah is high up in heaven.

we can't see him, but he is there.

Three years old? All you need to do is say Ok, lets be gods friend.

Who gave you those legs? Jehovah? ok lets sign up for soccer!

Who gave you your brain? Jehovah? ok lets sign up for girl/boy scouts!

Who gave you all those friends in kindergarten? Jehovah? lets have a sleepover!!

Who gave you to me? Jehovah? Lets celebrate your birthday with all those friends from boy/girl scouts and kindergarten and we can even play soccer at your party!!!

Dont overcomplicate it. Do not go negative. Get your kids involved and break the bubble that the dubs create. Its not that difficult but you cannot be a fader! I was a born in and have two tweens that have been raised in the church by their mother. One just moved in with me full time and the other is loving sports and all her "worldly friends"

The eye of horus is a man made symbol. The Freemasons use lots of man made symbols. The naked human body is a naked human body but i suppose it could be a symbol for..... whatever you want to make it a symbol for. Any "promised thing" in the bible or koran or the cat in the hat is a man made symbol.

John Denver: On being human

i have renewed respect and admiration for john denver after watching/listening to this video.some of it reminds me of words by another john, john lennon.i really regret that my jw upbringing made me dislike john denver after some things he had said about jw's in his earlier career.

i would have loved to have heard this talk back in 1980 when it was first recorded.it hits home on so many levels of what we discuss on this very forum.

everything from evolution to spirituality,humanity to religion, the ineptitude of modern politics to solve mankind's problems.the things which we allow to divide us as humans but more importantly the things which we all should allow to unite us.it is 2 hours in length but i didn't regret the time spent watching it because it was one of those things that show that he had very similar ideas,philosophies,and feelings that have been expressed on here.after what many of us have been through on our journey and trying to escape a religion that we found we were trapped/bound to in some form or another,something tells me he'd felt right at home being with us.this recording is almost 36 years old so the sound and picture quality might not be what we're accustomed to today but is so worth the watching of it.

I think galaxie made some excellent points.

I guess before I could get into a biblical discussion with you I would need to know what you believe about the bible. Do you believe that it is literally god's word? Is the bible more or less good stories that we can learn life lessons from? If you in fact believe it is inspired by the creator of the universe, before I pattern my life after its teachings, I would need to know what proof do you have of this? and how is your proof different or more convincing then muslims have for their koran?
