Becoming the average JW (and what I found out about the average 'Joe Witness')

until a couple of months ago i was an uber-spiritual pioneer, only having association with other pioneers, elders and others who would fill in the category i classified as "spiritually acceptable" friends.. but since stopping pioneering and having more time to think about my doubts and what i really believe (or better said, what i no longer believe), i have started getting to know other less spiritual brothers and sisters of the area.

in fact, my old friends are starting to forget me quite quickly, i must say.

so, i guess my next move in fading is becoming what i call the average witness.. and what did i discover?

It is literally impossible for your employer to force you to choose between your job and your religion.

If you have to work on a meeting night then you have a choice. Go to meeting or feed your kids. Sadly individual jdubs will make the choice of meetings. Now, this assclown is going to get paid for it.

I suppose I am just beating a dead horse here so I will just say that personal responsibility is paramount. "The org made me do it" is a lame excuse for not taking care of your children. I just want people to realize that....

If you have children you are accountable for them and to them. Don't ever let your kids hear you say "The org made me do it"

Any parent who has this information on hand and who consciously chooses not to go to the appropriate authorities must shoulder responsibility for their inaction. I could not agree more

If the parent is the one abusing, then maybe the church can be held responsible.. after the other parent decides not to report it.

We as ex dubs are still so butt hurt that we want to point the finger at a church for its "policies" when THE FUCKING PARENTS WONT EVEN GO TO THE COPS. Jdub parents, catholic parents, muslim parents all have/had problems going to cops when kids were molested. What is the constant in all those cases? THE PARENTS!

Sure, shun your friend cause he left the truth... a little weird but i went along with it... you know manipulation and group think. If you touch my child I will literally slit your throat. There is no "well, you know they are really pressured to listen to the elders and all"

Where does personal accountability start? As a father I will never accept that it was "the church's fault" as a reason a grown ass man or woman does not go to the police when his/her child was molested.

So daughter brings up to dad and the dad does not..

B) Report this himself to police.

The anger is really being deflected to the wrong people.

I am sorry people, you can try and place blame on a religion all you want but if the FUCKING PARENTS of the child who was abused do not go to the police these kids are and will continue to be fucked!!

Wachtower study february 20 - the stress factor

attending for family reasons, and listen in "oversee" modus to the many comments during the watchtower study.. in my opinion it was a self help article on the subject stress amongst the flock.. leave it all to jehovah and help your self with the bullet points.. what i noticed from the comments is the lot of stress mentioned.

comments after comment they told how they handle their problems.

it is a real toppic amongst them.

It seems to me they have all the anxiety as any other group of people. The major problem for them though is they are taught to only rely on other people to solve their problems. If a kid wants to play sports they bring in the elders to "reason" with the kid. If a brother needs to work overtime he will go to the publications to see if this really is the "wisest" course of action. If a family member needs blood to live they dont contact a dr for a second opinion, they contact the "no blood" committee!

Left and right, they are looking for someone else to solve all their problems. They have the view that the "The problem is out there" never realizing they have the power to solve most of the problems in their own life. They simply do not want the burden of making their own choices.

I showed this to my still in mother a few years back. When the elders found out she was still conversing with me she used this article with good affect.

As a side note, Ray Franz says that he was either the author or co-author (cant remember now) of that article and wanted to reflect a more christ like attitude towards df'd ones.

The argument "its in the watchtower, how can it be wrong?" is very compelling to cow eyed elders who do not have pre-written answers to that statement.

Exactly! When organizations such as the Watchtower corporation attempt to enforce their disingenuous and self-serving little rules upon their millions of mentally captive adherents, then they are, indeed, operating above the law – the basic law of the land which guarantees freedom from such egregious abuses of power.

They can attempt to enforce all they want. Each one of the "millions of metally captive adherents" is an individual who is making the choice to follow the rules. What they believe is irrelevant. Under law they have the choice. Adults who choose to live this way have chosen to live this way. The consequence of their choice is their burden to bare.

It seems to me, though, that an organization had ought to be held accountable for its policies that cause emotional damage to people

That is the difficulty here. The people inside need to wake up, make noise and demand change. Imagine if every person started making firm, prinicpled stands for the positions they were opposed to. In very short order the org would be a shell of its former self.
