i've just picked up where i left off reading it at chapter 16. i havnt looked at the bible since being disfellowshipped and i read the first 3 verses:.
1 i have told you these things so that you wont abandon your faith.2for you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for god.3this is because they have never known the father or me.. jesus encouraged his disciples not to lose their faith, it seems when they would be thrown out of the religion they belonged to.
Great observation, Timmy. Nice thread topic. That was one of the most refreshing realizations for me when I left the organisation; "apostasy" is mostly a word the WTS like to throw around WAY too much. I didn't have to actually be one. I could still have a relationship with God - now, I realize, an even better one.

Of the 20 deaths in 8 states CNN is associating with Irene, I am curious how many of them were gay. It'll be interesting to see news reports of those ones being laid to rest by their husbands and wives of the opposite sex.

after reading her life story, she strikes me as a truly remarkable woman.. if i may quote from her story, one particular experience stood out for me when she was going through old memorabilia as part of a research project at the brooklyn headquarters.... in one of these drawers, finding personal photographs of the second president of the watchtower society, joseph f. rutherford, was, for me, one of the most disagreeable and revolting discoveries.

You have some experience to tap right here if you want it. Looks like Quendi and I took that beating the old fashioned way, alone and without the resources you have available to you. But just like leaving the WTS by itself, for all the reasons you hear about on this forum, your best aid is education. Educate yourself. Find out what the bible REALLY teaches about homosexuality and it will draw you even closer to God. You won't have to live in a either/or mindset regarding your relationship with your partner and Jehovah.

Timmy, educate yourself about what those scriptures posted above REALLY mean and in which context they should be understood before you go abandoning the bible.
An athiest NEEDS the bible to be as ugly and hateful as possible and will always present in that context. If you want some reading suggestions to help you understand these so-called "gotcha" scriptures better, shoot me a pm.

one of the points ray franz brought out in both his books is that most of the early literature is out of print and simply unavailable to jehovah's witnesses (or anyone else) today.. would there be any copyright issues involved in setting up a website, or an addition to this website (just a scenario) with a database of all this old leterature?
are writings from 100 years ago considered public domain now?.
i realize it would be a massive undertaking but with so many people contributing literature from their own collections.... .
