Cedars and I get along fine. I'm pretty sure he would recognize a good natured jab coming from me. However, given all the hullaballoo, I suppose now is not the best time for jabs.

I had just been reinstated after a 20-year hiatus when, out of boredom, I googled Jehovah's Witnesses. Found JWN, entered... oh, I was appalled! Apostates everywhere!
Pert near broke my finger trying to click out of here.
Time passed, doubts set in, questions arose. (finger healed) I knew where to come looking. I lurked for a few weeks and then jumped in. I'm still mostly a lurker. I have also "learnt" a bunch from you guys.

Well, the prophesy is in the bible. The twist is from Brooklyn.
What will happen after the destruction of the world empire of false religion? Satan will incite the political powers to mount a global attack upon Jehovah’s people. How will the true God react to this attempt by Satan to wipe true worship off the face of the earth? Ezekiel 38:19-23 tells us: “In my ardor [or, jealousy], in the fire of my fury, I [Jehovah] shall have to speak. . . . And I will bring myself into judgment with him [Satan], with pestilence and with blood; and a flooding downpour and hailstones, fire and sulphur I shall rain down upon him and upon his bands and upon the many peoples that will be with him. And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.”
The GB believes that they will be attacked almost as an afterthought to the destruction of "false" religion. The way they're stirring up attention, they might be the very religion that ignites the whole thing. -

Local Needs: Low Hours
by breakfast of champions inthe local needs was about low fs time in the cong.
about 1/3 of publishers are averaging 4 hours per month.
that is unprecedented in our cong, a usually 'zealous' congregation.. my take is this: if you don't believe it yourself, why are you going to waste valuable time telling others?

This is interesting and confusing data. How does this play in to the constantly rising membership and Kingdom Hall construction?

What about other religions?
by TimothyT ini love being a christian and i deeply respect the teachings of jesus and i firmly believe that it is through faith in him that we recieve eternal life and salvation.. but what about everyone else?
islam, hindu, buddhist, etc?.
even as a jw i never believed that salvation was exlusively for jw's, but where do all other sincere worshippers of other religions fit in?

I got a little side tracked and forgot to finish making a point about Babylon the Great. Remeber in the Revelation account Jehovah issues a warning, "Get out of her my people."
Jehovah's people are scattered throughout Babylon the Great. He calls them "my people", not because they are in THE correct religion, not because they have ALL the right answers, certainly not because they are the almighty Jehovah's Witnesses, but because he can see their hearts.
Those who will be saved will come from all walks of life and religions. Including some of our Jehovah's Witness friends and family.

One of the scriptural understandings I still agree with that came from the WTS is the definition of Babylon the Great, the Great Harlot. Now, the WTS says that it is "false" religion. The more I examine it though, I think it is religion, PERIOD.
That said, there are so many people strewn throughout the realm of religion, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc... who are unquestionably sincere in their hearts. They are complete toward God in whatever way they are able to understand him. Does that mean every religion leads to God? In my opinion, no. Christ died for all mankind. It wouldn't make sense if some people were allowed to skirt that process.
But people are not going to be judged on wether or not they got the right religion.
1 Chronicles 28:9 - for all hearts Jehovah is searching, and every inclination of the thoughts he is discerning. If you search for him, he will let himself be found by you...
Luke 2:14,15 - For whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves. They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused
If the righteous AND the unrighteous are going to be resurrected, and if the 1000 year reign thing has any truth to it, then all those people from other religions who Jehovah judged as having the right heart condition will certainly have the oppurtunity to learn about Jesus. So sayeth the Dork. -

How many of you haven't fared too well since your exit?
by i_drank_the_wine ini know that i've had a hard time piecing things back together after losing my wife and family a couple years ago and haven't really gotten the ball rolling to say the least.
just curious to hear if anyone else is in the same boat, or was in the same boat and how long it took them to get a "new life" figured out and going..

I'm finding myself to be a bit of a loner because I still see others as "worldly" and me as... well, not. I know that's a mindset I need to shake. But for now, it prevents me from initiating or responding to situations where a freindship could potentially develop.
My co-workers are nice enough guys just for working with, but most of them are really foul and filthy scum bags. Nobody talks at the gym. I don't hit the bars anymore (I'm also a recovering alcoholic - 9 years now). My neighbors are all a bunch of drunks or whackos or fellow loners - I wish that was an exaggeration.
Another BIG ingredient is I feel wasted from the whole experience of leaving the organization. Exhausted. I don't have the energy right now to invest in new friendships. Maybe that's a little bit of depression at play, I don't know. I think for right now I'm okay with just coasting. I know how to make things happen and create social situations. When I get bored enough, I'll act.
