  watchtower society of new york president max larson died today at the age of 96.. served in bethel since 1938 (73 yrs at bethel) long before geoffrey jackson & anthony morris of the gb were even born.. http://www.jw-archive.org/2011/09/bro-max-larson-died-today.html.

  I've read every one of these comments and some are pretty funny I'll grant that, but the idea is not without merit. Disagree or flame me all you want JWnet people, the thought is a sincere one.

  For the people that still love YHWH and Jesus, there are some good and noble things about the Witnesses that cannot be denied. Why can't those of us that still consider ourselves "Christian" have a belief system that is more tolerant and enlightened? Something to think about...

  Field Service time wasters

  a former co (retired in a circuit provided house) was in the hardware store.

  Wifey came home not too long ago and said, "Oh I went out w bro and sis ___ and first they talked forever and we couldn't get out of the KH parking lot, then we did one call and right into errands and then a coffeee break- and I'm trying to get in my time!" (She was raised not to loiter she's a good girl)

  I couldn't help it I quoted 2 Tim 3:5 that says they would have a "form of godly devotion" but prove false to its power. I followed up with what a waste of time the FS really is...she was NOT amused.

  Do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars...

  i put on my blog recently an article reviewing the evidence regarding whether the star of bethlehem was guided by god or satan.

  as we are well aware, this is a "pet point" of the witnesses and assists the wt viewpoint with regard to christmas and all things "pagan".. .

  Thank you wannabefree - I have been collecting WT pubs for years on computer and have *almost* everything. I download the PDFs every issue, but its nice to have them bound together. We are "watching the WT" and stay vigilant in this way.

  And it's nice not having to order it from the literature counter either lol.

  @Awarebeing - your comments are appreciated. Truth is truth, no matter how painful it may be to give up a cherished belief. I think I read that in a magazine once...

  @Cantleave & @Diest - If you want to believe in evolution and have little respect for others that believe in the Bible, that is YOUR BUSINESS.

  I promise I will NOT pray for you! But why not go and make a post about your viewpoints and your faith in evolution? I also promise that I will not post on your thread something that is not related to your topic.

  To those of us that have left the WT (like yourselves) but still believe in the Bible, this is an important subject TO US.

  Since this thread is about the "star" spoken of in Matthew chapter 2, if you have something of substance or forethought to share that is welcomed. Snide comments about something you personally don't believe in is a way to derail a topic, and we all get annoyed when someone does that, no matter who they are.

  Amen SIAM. Elder for 10 years, am still active but now an MS the last few. Can barely stand it but feel am doing some good on a local level. Can't leave/fade yet because wife is quite active am trying to wait for her to catch up but it may never happen. *sigh*
