We understand your position MM. But I think your loyalty to the admin of JWR is a bit perplexing. We know that this wasn't your fault and that you tried to reason with them. I do not hold anything against you. So the adamant defense of them in light of how we are reacting rubs the wrong way.

Personal growth for themselves but chaos, upset, and the feeling of betrayal for us. The scales are not balancing out (for us anyway). Basically they carried out their selfish plan with no thought for the people they claimed to want to help. Just "I'm tired of this weight around my neck, fuck it, 'YANK' the plug is out of the wall now, yeah!'

Spin it any way you want, but that's about the size of it...(no ill feeling toward you MM)

i just came over from jwr.

a little background: my mom converted to the witnesses when i was five.

i was baptized at 14, was mentally out by 18, and successfully faded by the time i was 25. mom and both my younger sisters and their families are still in.

Hey there Quee! I'm glad now that I joined both sites with the same username. Rifter never seemed to be much of a hugger. He was more of a hall monitor than someone you look to for help and friendship. The mods were better at giving a helping hand. It's like an era in my life has concluded, sort of. But hey, This is a good site with lots of info and many caring people. My new Exjw home...

Yes, it would be really good to be able to go back and copy my posts as JWR documented my hard times in dealing with leaving the witnesses. I hope they will re-open long enough for that...

Well, I'm past fretting about JWs...But recently I decided to start posting in the ex jw community again to show support for those who need it. Those people who turned off JWR say they are doing it to move on and forget all things JW. But they are still going to think about JWs, their own ordeals, and the community they unplugged without notice. There IS NO moving on completely when every day there could be a reminder...It will be with some of us until we pass on. I do hope that with JWR gone, and their ties severed from "all things JW" that along with the relief of freedom will also come a twinge of guilt for the abrupt and selfish way they handled 'Bowing out"...

Mickey: That being said, Seems like reasonable reasons for closing it down and the people's data and privacy thing makes good sense, BUT, people who might have really needed to stay in touch and had no other connection are shit out of luck. On the other hand, they might find each other here.....

Well, Not sure, but an admin and a moderator both posted about leaving JWR recently. Looking back, I know why....

Surely someone could have taken over for the ones who wanted to quit. Pass the torch. A lot of people were looking to them for help....
