Should JW's and Gays Be Allowed To Adopt?

this morning my nearest and dearest were discussing issues relating to adoption.

a close relative of the family has been turned down as an adoptive parent because he and his wife are too wealthy!.

the adoption people say that it is important that children have some negative input into their lives, apparently not having money worries can be bad for you.. we carried on talking and her ladyship asked me whether jw`s ever adopted children.

Based on your response to Larc I cannot help but wonder if you are in fact too close to the situation to make an unbiased observation about the general problem of rascism?

Over the past few years I have been noticing more and more acts of intolerance and racial discrimination on the part of some in the Asian and Black communities. Did the caucasions bring this upon themselves? Perhaps if it was limited to such acts against just the white community.

I have been observing asians being rascist against anyone non-Asian, and have been hearing more and more comments from blacks regarding anyone not black.

Racism is not exclusively a white male's problem. It is an illness and social pariah that can infect anyone, regardless of race or color of skin. I think percentage wise it is impossible to say which group is more prejudice.

The world community has taken some great steps forward in equality but I am afraid things in North America are rapidly progressing in the wrong direction.

My 2 cents.

Field Service Funnies

this happened out in door to door sales with me and another jw one morning.

we were in a run down neighborhood when we approached the door of a ramshackle house.

as we stepped up to the front door, i could smell a strong odor of garbage and urine.

While pioneering in Quebec a lady opened the door completely nakkid. I tried to maintain my composure and I wanted to say "Obviously I've come at a bad time" All I got out was "I've obviously come ..... at which point I started laughing hysterically, the elder with me (French) didn't quite get what was so funny, the householder (Shudder...old theocratese still stuck in my head) started laughing & apologized for embarrassing us.

hmm now that I think about it...I kinda miss Quebec.... LOL

I was working with a 13 yr old sister (still in Quebec) when a guy answered the door, the poor little girl was supposed to take the door but this guy's bathrobe was flapping in the wind, exposing himself to this 13 yr old. She got all tongue tied and was turning 12 shades of red. I got into my protector mode, gently moving the little girl aside I looked down, pointed and laughed. The guy quickly covered up. I turned around took the girl by the hand and walked away.

In one part of town a lot of the houses had basement apartments in them. One home I knocked on the front door, this woman came out and started swearing and cursing us up one side and down theoother, then slammed the door. We "shook the dust off our feet" and went to the side door and knocked. This same woman opened the door and I presume in sheer frustration started laughing. My line?? "Its sure nice to see a smiling face, you should have seen the woman we just met earlier...."

My first year pioneering, it was a hot summer day mid afternoon. A guy answered the door. He told me "Okay you are one of those Jahova's right? (nodding) Tell ya what if you come out back by the pool have two beers my wife and my friends will listen to whatever you have to tell us. I was somewhat confused by this and asked for clarification. He said well you guys don't drink right? and he was laughing .. I told him I'd come back in about 10 minutes.. I told the rest of the group I was done for the afternoon. I went back preached while drinking two beers and then told him he had us confused with some other religion. thanked him for the beer and left. LOL

I forgot to mention the time when one sister was soooo nervous about giving her first talk. She tried but just couldn't get through it. I was trying to be comforting and I gave the recommendation from the platform, sometimes when I am nervous I find it helpful to take two deep full breasts first and then continue on.

Okay here are some of my own mistakes made over the years.

As School Overseer..."So why is bible gynocology so important for us today (geneology).

During my first public talk (two MS' split one of the talks on the Creation book when first released) "So these orgasms developed into multicelled orgasms..." Said multicelled orgasms three times before I realized what i was saying.

Dropped my Proclaimers book of the podium, landing on my foot, "SHIT" was distinctly heard by all in attendance.

Said by someone else during a serious Bethel morning text discussion about the dangers of drinking, "well if it made BudWiser it might do something for me."

One (somewhat desperate) young Bethelite during the noon prayer: "Thank you Jehovah for all the beautiful sisters here today as day workers."

One old crusty elder during the Bethel noon prayer, "And Jehovah, when we think of all these doctors and lawyers that hamper and persecute your people ....pause....May you bring eeeevvviiillll upon these men..." All heads raised looked around and quickly dropped back down.

During the Bethel Family entrants school on the subject of masturbation. "If the urge strikes take the Bible in BOTH hands." I was trying so hard to hold back laughing I ended up snorting..I couldn't stop laughing and had to walk out for a while. Got talked to about my lack of seriousness after that. LOL

I'll have to try and remember some of my and others' goof ups.

A very bad day

today i arrived at work thinking that this would be a day like any other.

has been a combination of joy, sorrow, and relief.. my niece in new mexico left me a message this morning.

my sister died yesterday.

I thought it was apt that rollercoaster was the first to reply to you since it well descibes the emotions you must be feeling right now.

That is a tough go but I am excited at the opportunites facing you in the days ahead with your niece. From bad, good often arises. It is a great thing that you can be reunited with that part of your family.

I think your niece will appreciate knowing her Aunt for the kind gentle lady ... oopps I mean goddess that you are. I have good feelings about this reunion.

This is a wild goose chase Mac.

Someone (you?) raised this issue about 2 years ago at H20. It was pointed out that the Society has a fully functional garage on site. This means they have achieved government permission to issue "Certificates of road worthiness" to vehicles serviced by the garage. This includes personal (Bethelites and local CO's) cars as well as those owned outright by the Society (trucks, vans etc).

At times bethelites do have car accidents. The bethel garage by holding the certificate you mention in your post can restore said vehicles to road worthy condition.

One such incident arose when one of the Society's tractor trailers (18 wheeler) went off the road during a snow storm. It was hauled back to Bethel, bent frame the whole bit. It was repaired and the Bethel Garage issued the above certificate for that vehicle

I do know for a fact that no outside vehicles are ever repaired there. Not even local pioneers are allowed to take advantage of this service.

So do you have any desire to go back to the WTBS or is this the beginning of a new life for you? You put a lot into the Org over the years I guess I am just surprised you are giving it up.

Getting DF'ed can be a terrible ordeal but if it has opened your eyes as to how you have been controlled and manipulated by a faceless organization than it has been a good thing.

Hey are the Kunkels still around?? Used to have a major crush on those girls when I was a teen. Then there was Joan and Judy ... flashback to 20 years ago huh?
