  Bethel Doctor--Is it me, or was this odd??

  i was at bethel with my now ex-husband in early 1982. at that time, they did a tb test as part of the physical when you started.

  mine came out positive for exposure (though i did not and have never had tb), probably because i had worked as a receptionist in a hospital x-ray department.. the weird bit is that the bethel doctor insisted on giving me a gynacological exam.

  as i was only 22 at the time, and butt-stupid, i went ahead and let him.

  I'm banned from the Silentlambs Website

  i discovered a major security flaw on the silentlambs website, i e-mailed bill about it, setup up a small demonstration, mind you i told no one else about this.

  and the demonstration was benine, because this flaw could allow someone to forward the site to say porn sights.

  i won't go into detail, but let's just say i could cause alot of havoc with it.

  the demonstration was simply a pop up alert window, that said bill contact me, this needs to be fixed, paraphrasing, after I e-mailed him.

  So you did hack albeit in a benign way into the site and altered things sufficiently to create a pop-up note to Bill. Hacking is hacking and most webmasters and ISP/ASP owners I know would ban your butt as well. I guess I am left wondering was a demonstration really necessary?

  You hacked the site, altered the code and expect accolades for it? I just don't get you sometimes.

  You claim to be a survivor of abuse or at least a sibling of a survivor, yet you verbally abuse others online and often threaten physical violence (abuse) against people you don't like. Not to mention your quick (slanderous) labelling of others as supporters of pedophiles (i.e. Amazing). Now you hack into someone's site and act like a wounded puppy when they ban you (if in fact this is the case).

  I would really suggest working on thicker skin not to mention a little forethought into your actions. You've done some great work for Lambs but your online manner/behavior really doesn't encourage others to seek your help for such a sensitive cause.

  Just my opinion.

  Anthrax in Alberta Canada??

  i heard that two post office workers there are infected with it.

  they handled a letter addressed to the minister of weapons (i think thats his title) has anybody heard this??

  Canada is currently in the midst of a gun registry fiasco. This seems to be the basis for the hoax.

  A Post Office in Edmonton Alberta (Western Canada) was cleared of about 150 employees, but it was just a precaution. Last I heard no trace of Anthrax had been found and everyone was sent home.

  As I addressed in my first comment, the SL.org vehicle has been poorly identified as being of support to victims of abuse rather than it actually being an activist organization intent on changing policy through the media and the courts and public pressure.

  Many survivors of abuse have already been sideswiped by that vehicle. Feeling like they are little more than trading cards, almost stating 'ohhh incest with rape will get me further in the public eye than just a rape. You are now my new poster child'

  Whether Bill is the right driver of the 'activist' vehicle or if he should just be a figurehead (the elder who quit in protest role) is hopefully being determined.

  But at the same time slamming him personally in a public venue accomplishes little. (I am not saying you have done this Hillary)

  So I repeat, "I do agree with you regarding the need for de-personalizing silentlambs.org and getting trained people to do the work"

  I hope Bill is listening.

  Interjecting a moment here...

  First, Bill has a laudable objective, that of changing Society policy. His methods are bullish (as in china shop). He has taken the most expedient path and has primarily focussed on those Lambs who will roar and can advance his media and legal objectives. Those lambs that must remain silent or who just cannot roar at this time are pushed aside. This same bullish path has led him to make some regrettable statements that have hurt the Silent Lambs cause but most importantly has hurt individual lambs as a result.

  Does this make him evil? No. He is a simple man from Kentucky, not a Wall Street spin-doctor. He has done remarkably well despite his lack of training as an activist. But he needs to be made aware that he has hurt some lambs in the process. That knowledge will hopefully cause him to think before making further poorly worded or ill-prepared press releases.

  To pick him apart also falls into the category of poor judgement or poorly thought out speech. Very little is accomplished by ripping apart the man. Correcting him or pointing out errors however is important, It is the constant nattering at such errors is inappropriate IMO.

  That said, I think Bill did err in both his press release and newsletter. Please view this as it is intended as constructive advice not as trying to attack Bill.

  The information Bill mentioned in his newsletter regarding the Canadian show was not to be released at this point in time.

  The 'Dateline fiasco' was not limited to JWD and one would have thought Bill would have learned from that lesson. The producers have asked all involved that not even the name of the show be publicized at this point or at least until a firm airdate has been made. I am very disappointed that the producers requests were ignored, not exactly conducive to future relations.

  Bill is doing some good work, but it should be clear to survivors of abuse that unless they are willing to speak up and be heard, they do not fall into Bills primary agenda.

  It is my NSH opinion, that survivors do not need to feel added pressure for them to speak up, but that such roaring should only be done when the survivor is ready and if it is conducive to their own well being. Survivors of abuse usually have to cope with enough wrongly placed feelings of guilt without guilt-trips being put on them for not speaking up.

  Those lambs who are just finding their voice or who cannot speak up or chose not to, are better to find outside sources of support such as are available through RAINN and not through a group whos primary goal is trying to change a Cult/religion/sects policies. (See info on RAINN below)

  I wish Bill all success in his objective to change the policy of the Borg. I hope it works, I really do. It may just protect potential future victims if he succeeds and the publicity being made thusfar has warned not just a few people of the potential danger within the 'spiritual paradise'. For that a deserved well done to Bill is in order.

  You didn't mention the age of your daughter but if she is able than she should report this to the authorities.

  Talk with her yourself, and determine what is best for her. If she is too young to make that determination, get her help and you report it yourself. When doing so, you might want to mention to the child welfare folks that the clergy of such and such congregation have known about this for over a month and you only found out yourself.

  Regardless if it is reported or not, whether or not the Society catches crap for this or not, please get your daughter whatever help she needs.

  Her health and mental well-being is far more important than 'getting' the Society. That can always be done later.

  I wish you and your daughter well.
