Branches in the more affluent parts of teh world were assigned porer branches to look after. For example Canada had 8 branches (some in Africa, South America and Eastern Europe) that they were to send a portion of the donations received.
This money would be used by these smaller poor branches to care for the travelling overseers, missionaries, bethelites and the printing of the publications in that Country.
I will swear to my dying breathe that in the 11 years I was in bethel, I saw no evidence of anyone, any individual or group of individuals getting rich from the donations made by JW's to Bethel.
I was personal friends with several of the Governing Body during my time at Bethel. While they are comfortable, they are by no means rich. When they die there will not be a huge inheritance going to anyone.
The only exception to that is bert Schroeder. he has been a business man..a shrewd one at that for decades. made investments, and his son married into money as well, so they are all set, but this was not at the expense of brother's donations.
The money is put back into the printing and distribution efforts.

The Rand engine aspect came up about 6 months ago as well.
It seems the co/founder of Rand is a JW. He donoted the value of his shares to teh Scoiety but retained all voting rights and company ownership.
What this means is that the Society receives a dividend cheque each fiscal period (established by the public comany) but has no control rights or warrants in said company. The brother &/or his company then receives a tax shelter in the amount given to teh Scoiety by way of dividend or shareholder equity.
The Society has been teh regular recipient of donated shares as part of an estate or donated on loan to the Society until such as time as a donator wants to cash in the shares. So the Society holds them in trust for a publisher, reaping the financial rewards if any of said stocks.
THe MBA's you mentioned were correct in that the Society was extremely cash heavy. For the most part (up till 95 at least) they improved this through short and long term cash equivilant vehicles, GIC's , T-Bills, etc. All easily convertible should the end "come real soon" or something.
As I mention up till 95 I know the Society did not play the market except for those stocks donated from outside.

I personally don't find that kind of post necessary or helpful. I did not post this to become a flame war against Focus nor for people to rally around in support of my post.
It was more of a plea for him to cease and desist in his destructive approach to things and get him to realize how he is perceived by many Jw's and ex-JW's.
I am hoping that if he realizes the potential damage he is doing to those thinking of leaving the ORg and to those who are waffling as to their position he might reconsider his approach.
He does have great research at his disposal but if he worried less about himself and his own ego and FOCUSSED more on why he is doing these things (unless of course that is why he is doing these things) then he might accomplish a greater good.

Here is much of the material that I have helped come into existence.
The only anger (not hatred) I carry is for those that care more about stroking their own ego than about how their actions affect others. Yes that includes those you are thinking of in Brooklyn. But you are no different. You use their tactics, in fact you brag of it at times. You wallow in self pity in that "they taught you how to hate". I ask you, what are you doing then to stop the hating? All you are doing is trying to get others to become as hateful as you. Hate is destructive. Those who hate are destructive usually to themselves and innocents around them and rarely to those to whom the hatred is targetted.
I am all for encouraging people to leave the Org, but not by turning them into hate filled individuals which is what you are seeming to try to accomplish.

As far as the Danielle=PB=Focus you might recall one of your early tirades against the Moderators at H20. You were upset because moderator 101 revealed your (Focus) identity as being Prominent bethelite. You were demanding his removal as moderator for betraying this to the Board. If it wasn't true than you were using a lie to get rid of a thorn in your side? So either you are Prominent Bethelite or you are a self serving liar. Which is it?

when you look at the news headlines concerning the many out of control pestilences, i can't help but think of the scripture in revelation chapter 6 verse 8, what do you all think about this subject?
My oh my for a second there I thought I was at H20. Since when did it become actionable here (or wrong) to put down one's thoughts and observations, scriptural or otherwise.
I think a lot of these mini attacks on Spect are totally un-warranted and somewhat petty.
Who are we to belittle a person's impression and beliefs?
I guess judgmental attitudes are not exclusive to active JW's.
