it seems that many people on this board get a certain amount of glee calling the jehovah's witness faith a "cult.
" especially former jehovah's witnesses.
and though it's true in a number of senses, we must be conscious of the fact that the early christians were considered by nearly everyone in roman and jewish society as a cult.
Funny...When someone would say to me that the literature is at a 6 year old reading level as a criticism I would always fire back.."Oh, is it too much for you to handle"
Witnesses think they are loving but they can be REAL dicks when they want to be.
despite growing up a jw i was always curious where this corny plays came from?
my best memories of them were when they used to turn the lights out in the convention center - cause that meant i could sleep!!!
but seriously, who writes them?
I was at two congregations in my life where our congregations had the drama. Now I was the ONLY one with real theater experience being that I trained at the distinguished American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and GRADUATED from there. It is very hard to do so yet both times I wasn't asked to be in the drama. Just a bunch of rookies waving their arms around and acting horribly.

I have a few things to clear up before it's my last one. Some witnesses owe me money and I have a judicial case against her. Let's see what happens.

i was talking to a workmate yesterday about my jw experiance and my daughters abuse , she told me that she works as a counsellor and had been discussing jws with a colleage , this person had given counselling to a jw woman who was a victim of domestic violence by her jw husband , the elders had done nothing to help the woman and simply told her to stop moaning about it !
the counseller was disgusted that in this day and age women are still treated like that !
the jw lady eventually left her husband , took the children with her and got disfellowshipped !!!!
The witnesses came to the hospital when Dad died. They didn't invite me out to eat or anything they just left when it was confirmed he was dead. They probably wanted to make sure I had enforced the blood issue and once that was to their satisfaction they took off.
i've always wondered this, and with the holidays coming up, why does the watchtower only pick on certain things, and leave other things to question, or to the conscience?.

I think we need to have an apostate judicial committe formed for Thinkaboutit. If he is in fact promoting Watchtower ideas then we need to disfellowship him from the apostates. His sentence? He has to go to the Kingdom hall meetings for a year.

Thinkaboutit, Some have to go to war when they become apostates. Some are still questioning. Some like to mock. Some like to find out and move on. I am in the mocking, still questioning phase. Maybe the original poster is in the war phase. I don't see myself ever picketing conventions. It's just not in me. I think the witnesses DO have some good things. I may even attend a few meetings to hear Bible based things. But I won't be back in an official capacity. I just can't. Too much garbage.
