I sure wouldn't come here for spiritual direction. From what I've seen, it's more a therapy site for those who got duped by the JW's. It's understandable. It's useful, but pretty much only for that. A lot of angry ex-JW's who are flying off in all directions, and feel justified doing so. Try reading some of the works of David Reagan. Smart guy, does a good job of explaining things.

by jambon1 ini've been out the organisation for around 8 years.
when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.
i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.

Fate of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Thoughtless init disheartens me the most when there is a possibility that faithful, hardworking, honest witnesses may be destroyed or be put out of god's favor.
a lot of brothers and sisters have risked their lives because they thought they were doing the right thing to please them.
so for those who still believe in god/afterlife, do you think that these witnesses are out of god's memory?

I believe most JW's are Christians. They believe they'll go through the great tribulation, which means, they probably will. There are going to be a LOT of people that come out of that SAVED, believing in Jesus Christ as Lord. There are going to be a lot of people given the chance to live under Christs's 1000 year rule. There will also be those who don't like it and will side with Satan after the 1000 years.

I'm very impressed with the intellect I see of the JW's. Most cults are filled with.....................Why? It's in my family. Why? They can't see the forest for the trees.

I'm seeing this, VERY intelligent people handing their lives over to people who are handing their lives over to people who are handing themselves and their lives over to High School dropouts. Am I correct?

agonus, were you born into the JW's or did you decide that for yourself?

Yeah, Blondie I understand it's a cult. agonus, I understand and I appreciate your reply. The thing is, we all crave a union with each other, where we help keep ourselves in line. It's extremely difficult to do by ourseves. There are things I like about the JW's. It's sad that there isn't an organization like them, but with the Holy Spirit.

Is it money? Power? Control?
I have a difficult time figuring these people out. Do they give away Watchtower & Awake these days? Where do they get their money? The people on the Governing Body HAVE to know they're not "communing" with God, right? Do they think they're the "Pope" of the JW'S? I've seen some very intelligent people on this forum, some out of there for 30 or 40 years but they're back here discussing what happened. Man, that's some POWERFUL stuff! How can they exist, trapping so many otherwise intelligent people into their ranks? Seriously, looking at the diversity and the questions asked AFTER the fact on this board, it's difficult to understand how these people went into this in the FIRST place. Why? I haven't seen a KH in 30 years, but I came here looking for answers as to why I was the way I was in certain ways. I've found a lot of them, and I appreciate you guys for helping me with that by your posts. Interesting reading about people going from polygamy to atheism after exiting "Jehovah". Still, WHY do they exist? It usually comes back to the dollar. WHO is getting rich in this? It HAS to be there, I just don't know where it is. It's like some unknown puppetmaster pulling the strings.

Nah, some other family member usually makes it, usually my brother. I know he uses a lot of cornbread and sage.
I went over and had "Christmas Dinner" at my mom's this afternoon. Of course, she doesn't call it that and you can't do it on Christmas Day. It was really good tho! Here's a recipe that sounds similar to what my brother does.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups crumbled cornbread
- 3 cups soft bread crumbs
- 4 ounces butter
- 2 cups onion, chopped
- 2 cups finely chopped celery
- 3 to 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups chicken, diced, optional
- 1 heaping tablespoon dried sage, crumbled
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried leaf thyme, crumbled
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram, crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
Preparation:
Heat oven to 400ºF. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornbread and white bread crumbs. In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onion and celery in butter until tender. Do not brown. Combine the sautéed vegetables with the bread mixture. Stir in chicken broth, using enough to moisten. Stir in the diced chicken, if using, and the seasonings and beaten eggs, blending well. Spread the mixture in a large shallow baking or roasting pan measuring about 10" x 15". Bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
