cobaltcupcake - "I remember something about creative days not necessarily being of uniform, 7000-year length. Can't remember if that was in a talk or in the Washtowel, but it stuck in my mind as an explanation of the age of the earth itself. That first creative day could've been millions of years long."
I heard some rumblings in that direction back in the late 90s/early 00s, but it was quashed pretty quick by the older hard-liners.
Knowing what I now do about Jaracz's reign and his crackdown on the more liberal elements at Bethel after 9-11, that quashing doesn't surprise me at all.

A Different View of "Peace and Security"
by Bobcat insince the wt this week has the prediction of a "peace and security" event, i thought i would include a comment from the new american commentary (nac, d. michael martin, pp.159-60) on 1 thessalonians 5:2, 3.. here is the wt's position, according to this week's wt study (sep 2012 study edition, pp.3 4):.
1 th 5:2, 3 is a "future development.".
it happens "just before that day of jehovah.".

They need the big A to be imminent because of all the letdowns in the past.

That's the best damn photobomb idea I've heard here yet.

The Information Age (and every aspect of it) is progressing at a breakneck pace.
Ultraconservative organizations like the WTS will never truly be able to successfully adapt to that pace at any kind of effective rate. Their very nature prevents it.

Will this open the way for CRIMINAL convictions of Jehovah's Witnesses Governing Body and C.O.s?
by Balaamsass inmsnbc.
"new charges were also added against athletic director tim curley and vice president gary schultz in what pennsylvania attorney general linda kelly calls a conspiracy of silence.. .

If it goes though, it would set a nice legel precedent...
...and as I've argued before, institutionalized sexual victimization is being brought to the public's awareness more and more, to their increasing dismay.
Prosecuting the WTS in a similar way would provide a very convenient object lesson for the religious sphere of society, in part because they're small potatoes; they've no friends in high places to cover their backs, and no one would really sympathize if the justice system made an example of them.

What do you think of drawings like these?
by DeWandelaar ina long time ago the jw's published a book called "humans in search of god" (translation of the dutch version so i am sorry if the title is not totally correct).
i always remembered one sick drawing in it and it always made me wonder how this drawing could be used in one of their books.. .
warning: can be shocking to people who never saw it before!.

Theocratic Sedition - "I just don't understand how anyone can salivate in anticipation of good people dying in a horrific manner simply because they didn't agree with the WT's peculiar brand of Christianity."
Hard-core JWs are pretty convinced that since they don't "agree with the WT's peculiar brand of Christianity", they aren't "good people".

My introduction/experience
by happy@last ini have only just recently found this site, in fact only recently gone online to do research of my own about jws.
before i left i had only gone on my gut instinct, not even realising i was not alone with my feelings.
the week i was appointed an elder some 11 years ago, i had had to write to a congregation many miles away from me about how unloving they were (more details below).. not long after i started to have concerns about jws, expecially as the message of 'following the bibles message' subtly changed to 'follow the fds', this did not sit well with me.

Yeah, I started suspecting something was off in the WTS before I started my fade, too.
Welcome.

Girls are unpredictable, materialist, and use us, men, as a toy.
by will-be-apostate inwell, it seems like i am going to ruin the domination of raypublishers' topic at this section of the board.
:d. now back to the topic.
the last month i was trying to get "closer" to my classmates and to the others from my highschool.

One more word of advice, will-be (Wilby?);
Do your best to get to the point where you genuinely - genuinely, mind you; no faking - don't care one way or another if there's a "significant other" in your life.
I know it seems counterintuitive, but you might be surprised how soon the situation changes - seemingly almost on its own - after you get to that point.
Seriously.
Married almost 14 years, now.

Nothing abnormal with feeling socially awkward. We've all gone through it.
And you already are sociable around young women. A little self-confidence, and you'll make your sexual debut before you know it.
Here's a tip; most young women want a partner. If you're nice-looking, they'll let you know in subtle ways.
