Finding out that the UN charter has, in fact, clauses protecting religious freedoms was, in retrospect, one of my little wake-up moments.

Were JWs Right That There Would Be A Time When Governments Would Go After All Religion?
by minimus inthey have predicted this for years.
religions of the world would become attacked by the governments.
the only difference is when they go after jehovah’s witnesses, then jehovah god will step in and destroy the governments..

What is "Brazen" conduct according to new 'Shepherd the Flock of God' book
by TastingFreedom inwhat is brazen conduct according to the watchtower?.
here are some references from the new flock book:.
they have really pushed the envelope to bundle a bunch of things into one really evil word.

Credit where credit's due...
...so-called "brazen conduct" (see what I did there?) is hands down, without a doubt, the most useful catch-all judicial tool the Org has ever come up with.

New Game: Spot Those Logic Fallacies! - "theory of evolution is 'much further from being proved than men are from flying to the moon.'"
by cognisonance ini read on here someone paraphrasing from evolution versus the new world the quote in this post's title where a scientist is quoted as saying the theory of evolution is "much further from being proved than men are from flying to the moon.
for those interested in the quoted scientist actual words, you can read them at google books.
of course the author, a chemist, is refering to the theory of evolution by natural selection, something he refers to as "percise theory," as opposed to "vague thoery," the latter he is describing the easy-to-see evidence that evolution has happened.

Once I realized just how much creationists - including the WTS - used quote-mining, semantic pretzel-twisting, and just plain misinformation to support their case*, I had all the justification I needed to learn about the subject from unbiased sources. Guess how that went?
If you need to cheat to defend your beliefs, your beliefs don't deserve to be defended.
* All tried-and-true tactics from the sleazy lawyer's go-to grab-bag of shady courtroom tactics to use when you're losing said case, I might add.

Being raised a JW wasn't "bad" for me, per se...

I didn't find the letter all that "shocking", either.
Gave me a chuckle, though.

Do JWs trust and rely on bad reviews? Why should they? How could it be coherent?
by psyco injws are taught that all bad reviews about them made by exjws are false and sick, so they must not read or listen to them.. so, when jws decide on joining, applying, or buying whatever product, service or organization: are they reading and listening only to good reviews about people still satisfied with that product, service, or organization because they consider false and sick all bad reviews made by people who abandoned that?
do they trust and rely on all bad reviews reported in documentaries, on internet, on tv, on magazines etc.
about people who left scientology, who left that house, who left that job position, who left that hotel, who left that restaurant, who left that medical treatment etc.?

The fact that it's statistically impossible for all bad news to be a lie, the realization that at least some of it therefore had to be true was, in retrospect, one of my little wake-up moments.

Would a JW accused to be a murderer (in a judicial committee) be reported to the police?
by psyco ini am wondering if a jw accused to be a murderer (or any other serious crime except csa) in a judicial committee would be reported to the police.. if i sexually abused or molested a child, i would not be reported to the police.. what about if i killed a person: would i be instead?.
it is not a matter of being right or wrong but i am only curious to know if there is at least a sort of coherence regarding the internal policies for serious crimes....

As bugshit crazy as this sounds, I seem to recall a leaked internal WT document stating that they should not, in fact report a "brother" to the authorities if he'd committed a murder.
Maybe "encouraging" him to go himself and confess, but that'd be the extend of it.

Is it okey to express your love for Jesus currently as a Jehovah's witness?
by Kosonen inis it okey to express your love for jesus as a jehovah's witness?.
it should be, even though it would lift some eyebrows in the congregation.
let's see what jesus said:.

Kosonen - "Is it okay to express your love for Jesus as a Jehovah's Witness?"
Sure, if you don't mind other Jehovah's Witnesses being super suspicious of you.
