below is a transcript of the tv report.. a pennsylvania grand jury has recently brought child sexual abuse charges against nine men—all jehovah’s witnesses—in what some are calling the most extensive investigation into the group in history.

i've never been a witness so i never left.

for some years i’d had a growing irritation and disillusionment with the religion: i was getting tired of the pompousness, the arrogance and the control, i felt increasingly choked by their restrictions and i was drained by their demands on my time.
I fucking hate that.
IMO, the moment you put maintaining your authority ahead of actually getting things right, you no longer deserve your authority.
i've never been a witness so i never left.

No single individual thing initially, just a quiet creeping feeling that something was off.
Eventually, though, came the gobsmacking realization that evolution was true, and that the WTS could never budge on it.
Other things, too, but that’s probably the most significant one.
"the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible.
therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction".
i know this subject been talked about before.
They GB pays lip service to their own fallibility, but make no mistake, the rank-and-file are expected to behave as though they’re infallible.

this is not a joke.
anthony moron da turd is out as a gluttonous body member!
careful - “… yes, Jaracz was definitely a throw back to Rutherford, eh?”
I’ve long held the opinion that if there’s any justice to the universe, those two are cellmates in Hell.

Hell, I’ve long suspected Jaracz maneuvered his way up the WTHQ ladder and ruled with an iron fist specifically to position himself to deal harshly with any perceived threats.
Its an old and well-worn tyrant’s tactic, after all.

careful - “…in the case of Ray Franz someone very powerful was out to get him, Ted Jaracz…”
Huh.
It’s been a while since I read COC, so I don’t remember that, but I definitely find it plausible.
That’s just the kind of disproportionally punitive action that an (alleged) sex offender with an authoritarian streak a mile wide would take, the moment he felt the slightest bit threatened.
And Old Man Jaracz would have absolutely felt threatened simply by Ray’s general decency.
ever since the annual meeting last october and the letter to bodies of elders stating that "exceptional young men perhaps in their early 20's could qualify for appointment as elders.." it even states this in the updated elders manual!
have any of you pimo's, pimq's, or those on here with family/friends still in hear of any young men being appointed as elders yet?
i am talking 21, 22, 23, 24 etc.
SydBarrett - “…why do conspiracy kooks love to use the word ‘planet’ so much? They never say ‘world’ or ‘Earth’. It's always ‘<insert paranoid nonsense> on the planet’…”
It sounds more dramatic.
Hell, I use it for that specific reason, and I’m not even a conspiracy theorist.
😁

re. Menrov’s post…
I think a compelling argument could be made that “sexual assault” wasn’t even viewed as a thing in Biblical times.
Sure, it happened, but given that daughters, sisters, and wives were first and foremost property, the OT penalties mandated for such offences more closely resembled the kind of things imposed on someone guilty of theft or vandalism.
