so today we are considering, the watchtower's new take on the "hailstone message", and if you don't know what that is , they used to believe that according to revelation 16:21 they would be preaching a hard hitting message during the time of the end.
now, let's read the verse first from the new world translation: "then great hailstones, each about the weight of a talent, fell from heaven on the people, and the people blasphemed god because of the plague of hail, for the plague was unusually great" now this is their new understanding as it appears from the 3rd paragraph from their new watchtower study edition for august 2025 and their article:when will the preaching work end, has this to say: "our clarified understanding of matthew 24:14 also adjusts our understanding of the hailstonelike message foretold at revelation 16:21. further examination has revealed that the two scriptures complement each other.
More schadenfreudey than anything else, IMO.
🤨
when will the current preaching work end?
(remember, i am reporting not supporting wts teaching).
questions from readers august 2025 p. 31 (how many wts teaching have been clarified?
Halcon - “…This religion has a complex task ahead. To change into a mainstream Christian religion from a doomsday end-times one. But they're laying the foundation with every little change made in last couple of years.”
I don’t think they’ll actually be able to pull it off.
The more they double-down on the old hardline and authoritarian stances, the more they alienate young members and potential converts, and the more their tax-exemption/state subsidies are placed at risk…
…but…
…becoming a more authentic “mainstream” Christian denomination would effectively neuter all the things they’ve held up for decades as hard proof they alone have “The Truth”…
…the WTS’s entire raison d’etre, from their perspective.
Either way, the incentive to be a JW becomes further eroded.

It’s apocalypses all the way down.
i just read this.
don’t know if anybody here has seen the video.. the intended result of this is to obviously scare ‘faders’ out of the shadows.
now, they are being threatened with loss of association with their loved ones and friends.
Beth Sarim - “…They cant lose anymore free labor or money/donations.”
I suspect it’s more to hide the lack of membership growth.
“Growth = God’s blessing”, after all.
is global warming a sign of the great tribulation?.
we are witnessing unprecedented environmental disasters—events unlike anything seen before in recorded history.
scientists confirm that 2024 was the hottest year ever documented, following 15 consecutive months of record-breaking temperatures.
EisMe - “Is global warming a sign of the Great Tribulation?”
No more than the Black Plague was.
not even as active as the jws (whom i have not seen for around a year now), nevertheless i get an occasional leaflet or other publication in my letterbox that seems to be seventh day adventist in origin.. the booklet i received the other day was entitled "national sunday law".
i also had received this book years ago when i had some dealings with the sdas.. from reddit: "national sunday law involves a conspiracy theory which alleges that the united states government is on the verge of enacting a national blue law that would make sunday a day of rest and worship.
the theory depends on the idea that the pope is the antichrist and the mark of the beast is worshipped on sunday.
If the LDS is the WTS’s nicer but weirder older cousin…
…the SDA is the WTS’s variant from a branched timeline.

does anyone have any information about a relaxing of the rules regarding family reaching out to disfellowshipped members?.
i've heard of an elder being openly in touch with a long time disfellowshipped family member.
apparently the term 'compassionate view' had been bandied about.. i can't find anything relating to this.. i'd be interested what the new rule is in when came into play.. hotb .
“Growth = God’s blessing”…
…I think they’ll do damn near anything to keep propping that one up.

Maybe…
…‘cept I’m pretty sure the bulk of the Org’s income comes from real estate.
It’s a lack of growth that would concern them, ‘cause eventually, it’d become too obvious to just hand-wave away.

Ten bucks says too many BoEs were finding too many pretexts to DF too many folks, and the WT leadership got scared that the rank-and-file were running dry.
