Weāve heard the occasional rumour here that a lot of the more out-there JW urban legends were actually made up by Bethelites for fun, just to see how far the stories would go.
Iā¦ kinda respect that, actually. š
prompted by a mention in a different thread.. cracks in the sidewalk, a pinch of salt over the shoulder, black catsšāā¬; do jws have such superstitious beliefs.
are they allowed to?
would they be counselled if the elders became aware?.

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
And I keep sayingā¦
ā¦they know itās wrongā¦ but believe itās trueā¦
ā¦at the same time.
it's not only the jws who do door to door witnessing.
the independent baptists for the most part have "soul winning", mainly door to door witnessing and leaving tracts, as a tennet of their faith.
this discussion is interesting:.
Youā¦ you mean thisā¦ this wasnāt real???
with what is arguably the biggest change to jw life in recent decades (the scrapping of publishers counting hours) what does this lead to?.
in my mind these are the results;.
1) a massive decrease in 'preaching hours'.
ExBetheliteNowPIMA - āā¦The top dogs donāt seem to mind itā¦
Donāt kid yourself.
I guarantee you they mind it very much.
They just canāt truly understand it.

GrreatTeacher - āā¦ a legal Non-Disclosure Agreement might be the only thing that can shut down the JW gossip millā¦ā
Oh, abso-friggin-lutely.
They epically fumbled that ball with Ray Franz, and couldnāt sue him into oblivion ācause every word he said was true.

Ohmygod, thatās too funny!
Reminds me, I had an aunt who thought Def Leppard was demonicā¦
ā¦simply because the band was popular.
Seriously.
She was so out-of-touch (and her personal preferences were so entrenched) that she couldnāt even consider that maybe they were actually skilled musicians and that people enjoyed their stuff.
I played the piano back then, and told her point-blank that I knew for a fact they were talented, simply because their music was really hard to learn. The look on her face was fucking priceless, but she couldnāt say anything, becauseā¦
a) ā¦sheād always respected my musical ability, andā¦
b) ā¦I was one of her kidsā only cousins whoād hang out with them. š
Looking back, she probably would have had a meltdown if sheād ever found out just how āPour Some Sugar On Meā originally became popular. š¤£
how many can you think of.... they speak for god.. it would seem presumptuous to say they speak for god,.
they are neither inspired nor infallible.. they are god's only channel for issuing truth here on earth.
they won't be apologising for any errors/falsehoods they have promoted in the past that fail.. congregation members must be quick and apologise for their errors to avoid harsh discipline/disfellowshipping.. when they change a major belief/doctrine you must not complain or criticise them.
