For Those of You Who Still Serve... How Do You Do It?
by Kingdom Evader innew here... been lurking for some time now.... i still serve... but with each passing day, it gets harder and harder.
i'm slowly... slowly working on my wife (i call her mrs. hardcore) and even my m-i-l (who taught my wife how to be hardcore).
making some amazing progress... they are still hardcore... but unrecognizable from a couple years ago!.

If you've been lurking for some time now, then you may have noticed that folks here are genuine, caring, and supportive. They are quick to put a human rainbow over a cloudy heart. I personally approve of that and need it myself from time to time.
The Searcher has been here 4 yrs now and IMO has some of the best wisdom I've ever heard on this board. (there are many others too Searcher...so don't go & start showin' off).
here's the comment:
"How can you sit at an elders' meeting discussing Org letters such as the 4 page money rip-off one, and be complicit in fleecing and abusing the blinded sheep?" It's unconscionable!!!Standing down as an elder is the only decent and honourable course to take.
(but you also noticed the big, hearty welcome you got too, didn't you?...that's how we are here)
I too am curious about you and hope you're not just here gathering advice on how to spot an apostate in your KH. You say things like: "If I were to listen to one of your public talks... would I know you were an apostate? Do you "lie" and say "support the GB" to avoid suspicion? Or do you make the talk as general and mainstream as possible and eliminate most of the cult speak?... I wonder how many are awake and we don't even know it yet..."
I hope I'm wrong and you are legit... I'm of a cautious nature now when it comes to JWs and especially elders...... i've been burned one too many times. I wouldn't give you the time of day if i thought you were going to do that.
If my concerns are unwarranted, please accept my apologies and WELCOME! You'll find your stay here pleasant!

by OrphanCrow innewcastle heraldchild sex abuse inquiry hears 4000th testimonyby joanne mccarthy sept. 10, 2015, 10:30 p.mthe royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse held its 4000th private hearing in a jail in august as britain followed australias lead in tackling child sexual abuse.the royal commission heard evidence on august 19 from a prisoner who had been sexually abused as a child.in britain, the head of its newly established independent inquiry into child sexual abuse praised the remarkable response to the australian commission.in a speech to australian church leaders on thursday, royal commissioner justice peter mcclellan said he was pleased the british inquiry would closely follow successful australian arrangements.more than 1500 people were waiting for a private hearing and about 40 people a week requested a private hearing, justice mcclellan said.the royal commission has received 16,361 allegations involving 3566 institutions since it was established in november 2012 following the newcastle heralds shine the light campaign for a royal commission into historic child sexual abuse.more than 7000 allegations relate to religious institutions, with 4418 against the catholic church, and more than 3600 against government institutions.allegations against other churches are: anglican, 871; uniting church, 411; presbyterian, 123; methodist, 69; salvation army, 519; jehovahs witnesses, 137; jewish, 80; baptist, 59; seventh day adventist, 56; australian christian churches, 50; lutheran, 32; brethren, 30; mormon, 18; coptic orthodox, 4; and greek orthodox, 2.justice mcclellan said the royal commission had referred 727 matters to police to investigate with a view to prosecuting alleged offenders.in the past few weeks, the royal commission had reported to the federal government on a national redress scheme for victims of abuse.it was clear that time limits presented a considerable, and sometimes an insurmountable, burden for survivors wishing to commence civil proceedings against child sex offenders and institutions, he said.the royal commission should also mark the end of the societal norm that children should be seen but not heard, he said.when the required silence of the child was accompanied by an unquestioning belief by adults in the integrity of the carer ... the power imbalance was entrenched to the inevitable detriment of many children, justice mcclellan said.we must ensure that in the future the institution does not silence the child.

We just love the heck out of you, and wanna see you get better, please help us help you...is what they say.
People who are unhappy sometimes get consolation from seeing to it that others are unhappy too. Misery loves company.
You have to have that "get off my lawn!" posture . i agree w/ the Amway reference. How do you stop these sort? Sometimes, you have to hurt their feelings to get through to them. You've done that already, and it worked. If they take it to the next step, just keep doing the same thing. ... let them know (in your own way) how offensive the intrusion is to you to the point of making you want to quit the religion entirely. And that's honest too... "You offend me". They don't want to stumble anybody, so use that against them. I finally told one elder: "I told Jehovah to just let me die" ...he asked: "you mean at Armageddon?" I said: "I don't care when." He got up immediately and walked out of my house (i think he got afraid i might do something to him). Never had any trouble after that. He knew not to mess with me.

Have my beautiful blessing from jehovah
by Ghiagirl inas my husband always says sarcastically about our newborn son, how people contradict themselves.
well he is a blessing but he is also the reason you are being shunned and were run out of the organization because you had premarital sex.
my beautiful son is finally here, and who texts and calls us the day he is born??

Congrats on your son!!! Babies are such a delightful wonder...and then watching them grow and learn. My wife and I have raised 5 children and it was quite a ride! Now we get to watch our 9 grandchildren grow up all over again. Best ride you can go on by far.
I have no idea what goes thru a Jw mind anymore (and I don't want to go back and remember either because it just makes me feel puny and small for even being duped into following that religion in the first place). I just stand at a distance now and pity them all. They have a "collective consciousness" which disallows them from having any original or compassionate thoughts about anything. At least your family's out... Good. So now you never want to let them (JWs) get a foot in your door again. Take the power away from them as soon as you can. This seems like a good time however you choose to do that. Use your anger for strength. They can never influence your child. Protect and cherish him at all costs. He will grow up and be able to think for himself! What a blessing!
my best to you, Dumplin

Validation feels good. The RC's got the jump on you Juliette. They know what's needed. What a kick in the pants! I really love them. My wish for you is that you'll soon feel free enough to let go of the "cautious" feeling. I struggle with that also.
lot of love back at'cha! Mike

I almost gave up today except for a girl her tried to throw herself infront of two cars.............
by umbertoecho inthis may sound insane but i literally have blood on my hands as i have just come home from a counselling session that went wrong...i wanted to collate all that has happened and record it...hospital policy is against it.
i said "what am i alive for then if not to tell the truth" she tut tutted and i walked out sadly in despair.. when i got to the ground floor there was a young girl screaming her head off.
she was afraid, that is all she was...........afraid.

A little off topic, but as I read through this thread tonight I was thinking about the very real concern that the RC has shown and is still showing victims who have been where Riley is. They are quick to respond to emails and implore other victims to come forward to receive their help. I think they share your deep feelings for victims Juliette.
But remember when Jackson told the RC that "if they would just make reporting child abuse mandatory, it would make it easier" for JWs? WTF?? So much of religion is arrogance masquerading as humility. The world needs "mad bastards" like us to expose these leaders for the heartless, unconcerned a**holes that they are. Angus, too, was relentless and was not going to let these charlatans get away with their deceptions.
How unlike Jackson, though, was your knee-jerk reaction to show Riley love, Juliette.
One scripture I still remember is that 'love throws fear outside' or something like that and also that 'there is no greater love than to lay down your life for another'...or, I might add, to risk it like you did by putting yourself in harm's way for Riley. And my gut is telling me - I think she may want to see you again
What you did is very motivating to me to not be wrapped up in myself so much that I forget others suffer too . .
And I've said this before too: I'm glad I found all of you guys.
