A simple explanation for the financial changes

as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.

i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.

i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.

HA! I too clicked expecting something more from Jeff... but he actually gave a simple explanation of the WTS. And I would hope nothing more is going on....because if there is more to it, then... i had a "crazy" thought:

what if the joke is on us? If they're up to no good and they know it, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop them...then they probably get a big laugh out of all of us here....i hope i'm not overthinking this b/c i'm really, really sick of them and I would hate to be duped again.

also had this unrelated thought: does anyone notice other religions making big changes like we've seen recently w/ WT or is this religion unique in this way? If not, why not? Even my JW wife says it's not the same religion anymore.

i decided to tell this small story.. about 25 years ago, we lived in a certain area in the usa and associated with the local congregation there.

coincidently, one of the elders was the assistant congregation servant in a different kh and congregation which i grew up in.

therefore, we knew one another well.

An older elder in our cong had a term he used for this when it happened to him: 'phantom accusers'.

And if there's more than one, they get to misuse the ol' 2witness rule against you. This happened to me too and was instrumental in waking me up. It was a sucker punch.

I was listening to a McNeill/Lehrer interview of one of Pres. Reagan's military strategists (can't remember the name right now). He wrote a book after the Berlin Wall came down something about the "Evil Empire". He made a comment about what he thought made Communist Russia an evil empire. When I heard this, I never forgot it, because it described exactly the way the borg works too and one of the reasons I think it's evil.

He said: "There was no security on a personal level against arbitrary attacks." (speaking of KGB)

I thought to myself: Bingo!

Good news/bad news but really good news all because of a wonderful board member

this last week i was e-mailed that my aunt had died.

she was 95 years old and had a long a good life with a loving family around her.

the reason this is more good news than bad is because due to the help of a member on this board i was able to reconnect with her.

to have a friend you must be a friend, they say. LL is this type of person, i think.

Just came home from work and thought of some more.

When i was just 15 yo one of my first doors was a 30 something woman who opened the door topless.

Another time, my wife's skirt fell off while we were talking to some guy at the door... it was one of those Ricky Ricardo moments...ha!

Then there was the time my 5 yo son disappeared while I was talking at the door. I ran around the corner of the house and he was peeing on her rhododendron.

it climbed under my hood to keep warm while i was at the door. no one home. i came back, started my car, and poof! no more cat. So like a conscientious witness, I immediately went to remove the evidence (my wt back issue i'd left in the door). Then my conscience took over and I thought they would wonder why fluffy didn't come back, so I placed the cat in the garbage can so they could find him.

while this post may not be entirely witness related, i figured i'd write out my thoughts here as a form of release and reflection.. recently, a lot has changed in my life.

i'm away from home for the first time in a long while training to get certified in a field i'm not even sure i want to work in anymore.

I couldn't help overhearing. I was eavesdropping.

i'm no relationship expert at all. in fact, my moniker is 'basement guy'. (but i'll save that for another thread)

but my older 'never a JW' sister is good at giving me advice. She told me that she believes in the wisdom of Louise Hay. So here's part of what my sis tells me in an email: "She wrote a book called "you can heal your body" (then a subsequent book "You can Heal Your Life" in which the first book is just a chapter!) and it covers every ailment from headaches to Aids and what's causing them. It's about the body "yelling" at us because something is going on in our lives and we're not paying attention. Most of the stuff is amazingly logical."
