Since the wt is discredited, what is the pillar and support of truth now?
by prologos insince the wt with its doctrines past and present is discredited, is there an entity that can be shown to be the latter- day "-----pillar and support of truth---" paul was writing about at i tim 3:15.?
have the believers or non-theists or exjws an equivalent at all ?
because humans like to huddle around the fire for the radiant heat.

I forget where I read this. It was in a book about Jehovah's Witnesses I am sure. The statement was made in the book that in the writers opinion "it was only by God's intervention", that a JW could escape from the control over them emotionally, theologically. That is anyway for true believers...The knowledge base allowed by the organization is almost airtight along with the rationalizations, so the message remains coherant as long as you keep drinking the coolaid. I don't know if this was the case in my life for sure? I will say this once you get away from it, the truth about the organization becomes more apparent. This only happens though if you study and research and push yourself to have an open mind. For some who leave there may be only lonliness, a feeling of being lost from a salvation standpoint, but this is due to error in what we were taught and the way we were taught. You are looking for a "pillar of truth" when in reality you are the only pillar of truth that matters. Your mind must accept realities and act or relate what you know to be accurate or true. Keep learning and judging for yourself what is reasonable or rational. If things are unknowable then accept that as fact at least for the present but don't accept it because it keeps the status quo or friendships, or because it is comfortable.

Adherents of Pro and Anti Cross Teachings ...Take Note
by itsibitsybrainbutbigenoughtosmellarat inoften in posts, i see ones referring to "the cross" or the jws view of an "upright stake" in posts on this and other sites.
a few years ago i saw "prince the rock entertainer" draw attention in a concert to "a lie told over and over" and then a cross appeared in a large picture behind him on stage demonstrating his epiphany through studying with the jws, about the instrument of death actually being an upright stake...to cite just one example.. all researchers and biblical enthusiasts should take note of the work accomplished by gunnar samuelsson and his team.
the publication was released in 2011 entitled crucifixion in antiquity and examines all scholarly works previously done on the subject as well as exaustive research by a team of people looking for facts and archeology to support one view or the other.

Often in posts, I see ones referring to "The Cross" or the JWs view of an "Upright Stake" in posts on this and other sites. A few years ago I saw "Prince the rock entertainer" draw attention in a concert to "a lie told over and over" and then a cross appeared in a large picture behind him on stage demonstrating his epiphany through studying with the JWs, about the instrument of death actually being an upright stake...to cite just one example.
If you have belief in one side or the other you may feel pangs of derision because of previously held beliefs, but the truth is the truth, and unless someone finds evidence to definetively settle this debate it remains a mystery and is as yet unsolved. So I guess it doesn't matter so much really.... as long as you don't disparage others cherished beliefs and denegrate what they believe as "true".
The book is expensive and so many have not read it. As an ex-jw it was a surprise and reassuring to see that yet again, so many things portrayed to us as the indesputable truth, was actually a matter of popular opinion or doctrinal bias, etc...but in reality unknowable.

JW financial liabilities?
by prologos infor reasons that are unimportant here, municipalties and other souveraign entities go bankrupt, touching the financial siruations of those beholen to them as muniscipal taxpayers with properties than can be morgaged after a bancruptcy judgement.
you legal minds in different jurisdiction: can the fact that one is a cardcarrying jw in a congregation( actually they are holding all the cards) pun intendet] ever be construed to mean that you are liable for any financial liability of the congregation, its elders, the wtbs.inc?
in our affluent area very ambitious 100% approved by vote are under way, selling off one good kingdom hall to build better later, with funding yet to come.

No need for any of that. It is all strictly done on an individual donation basis. No strings attached and no one is compelled (maybe guilted into giving something) but not compelled. The "slips" they sometimes pass are just used as a poll for any possible loans, gifts, or outright donations of money. But you can simply not give if that is what you want to do.

Both Atlantis and this site (see below)have great resources for old publications. The site also has talks by the oodles if you want to listen to that stuff. One talk that you might want to check out was Fred Franz talk on Christmas wher he describes some poor guy who researched actual origins of the celebration and got run out of Bethel...then they adopted everything he said six months later. Then he was just labled as presumptious. Oh and no apologies and extra charge...for the scorn before he left.
