Just got dumped by a "Best Friend"
by dreamgolfer infolks, i wanted to start out by saying how much support i feel when i have time to come online and tap in to all your knowledge.
reading what you all go through, does make me feel i am not alone and i am glad for all the time and support you give us all.. i want to do likewise and tell you a story:.
i was born into the jw religion via my mother, i am 50 something now, (on a good day i can look 49).

From this perspective, you can see that your friend has oonly two options: (1) Keep one friend -- you, or (2) keep all of the rest of his friends.
Yup, I guess you are right, I have to feel his pain as well to understand that. Good words of advice, thanks!

Folks, I wanted to start out by saying how much support I feel when I have time to come online and tap in to all your knowledge. Reading what you all go through, does make me feel I am not alone and I am glad for all the time and support you give us all.
I want to do likewise and tell you a story:

I have acquired many friends over the years. Shared in their joys, tragedys and regular day to day "cwap" we have to deal with. I like to think I am a guy that can help or talk with someone at a moments notice, my phone is always on.
Recently a friend of mine for over 30 years came for his annual visit to my area. Before this weekend, we talk about once month, text and email all the time but it was good to see him and his wife. They come here to work. so on one of the days towards the end of their stay we met for a beer. Well I did it,,,, I CAME OUT of the JW closet and told him what I feel in my heart and asked if we still can be friends? I get a nervous laff and "uh no I dont think so" So I asked - how many NON-JWS friends do you have? HE said a few, I asked can I just be one of them? another "nervous laff",
HE asked me why I feel like I do , so I gave him about 5 "Easy to swallow" reasons, none of which involved anything but MY OWN Feelings, I Was not attacking the ORG or his beliefs. About an hour passed for this. We finished our beers and hopped in our cars to leave,
Then with the final 4 days approaching, not a call, text or email. And he and his wife just left town without a word. Amazing how he must feel? I guess he is now ashamed to talk to me and all the things I had done in the past for this fellow is washed away.
Sadly I think, did Jesus mean this to happen? Did he want us to turn our backs on humankind like this? What happened to love your neighbor, or is all they teach from the platform "Conditional Love"?
Truly, this hurt in the deepest sense of my being, I am saddened and dissappointed that this man/best friend was supposed to "lay his life down for me" if I needed him too. However he just left town w/o saying good bye - just because i admitted to not going to meetings any longer.
So sad, so wasteful of my 30 years with a relationship that I thought was true and pure.
My take, My words, my feelings today, hope it changes tomorrow
Peace to you all,
DG

JWs preparing for some "Special Top Secret Meeting" does anyone knows about this?
by Free!! ini was talking to one of my jw ex-friends today (we keep in contact every once in a while) and she was all excited telling me about the new arregment, a special meeting only for elders, their wives, pioneers and other sheep of "exemplary" conduct... (of course she was invited)..... something about one meeting from bethel that is going to be broadcasted to everyone at assembly halls and translated via radio for those who cannot speak english... is by invitation only (and they are "being discreet w the invitations to avoid offend the ones not invited") and they even gave them tickets they have to present at the door..... anyone has the scoop??

Hey folks,
I just wanted to add my 2 Cents. .....you know the famous line in Animal Farm "all animals are equal, some are more equal than others"
Well with the Years of service and the Special connotation given to those of Status, why do the rest tolarate this behaviour? is it really Christ Like to base the inviation on who has served longer in the pecking order, or who is a pioneer, or elder etc? I think Jesus would be appalled.
This is really a way to get the Oldest and most special to give more $$$$ think about it, more cha-ching in for the WEEKEND, a special we are tying in all the Assembly Halls, what a hoot that will be.
And if you were NOT "LUCKY" enough to be invited, maybe you can feel better to work on your status for next time.
Gimme a break! I am sick of it people.

What am I to make of this e-mail? In my mailbox this morning...
by Terry insecretsexposed ofprivate bethel meeting, gideon school to be phased out, governing body sweating big dollar$ pedophilia case in virginia, atf watching, etc first, if theres enough donated then the watchtower society and their lawyers stay in lawrence hughes lawsuit over the blood issue but if not he drops watchtower and their lawyers yet keeps the doctors in thus cutting court costs, plus the doctors will either (1.
) third party the watchtower lawyers, that is go after them or (2.
) otherwise the watchtower lawyers and doctors will still have to be cross-examined in court and any evidence gained can be used to press criminal charges and have their licenses to practice law revoked.

MArk McCumber , my Ex- best buddy was in Bethel with him
ex-PRO GOLFER, now builds mega courses for the rich and wealthy, I am sure he is concerned with the "End"
Google him, great insight on how to have your legs on BOTH sides of the fence and still be a JW

Why a religion academic abandoned a plan for intensive study of JW doctrines
by MrMonroe inmichael gilmour, professor of engish and biblical literature at providence university college, manitoba, proposed a society of biblical literature workshop examining the watchtower society's use of scripture.
he thought they were poorly represented in deep academic analysis, particularly considering they have their own bible and are "persistent" (other people say "relentless") in their proselytizing.. in the end, he decided against it.
much of the reason is the suspicion and contempt held by jws towards "worldly" bible scholars, who, of course, may form different conclusions to those of the governing body.. james a. beverley, in his excellent book, "crtisis of allegiance," made the point that despite their claims to be bible scholars par excellence, the wts's writings or "research" are never (repeat never) cited by any other academics; none are ever persuaded by the claim that only the wts can understand the "deep things of god.".

If you have ever met anyone who was at Bethel for a period of time, worked on the writing commitee and has left, you'd understand why.
all they do is rehash the old dogma if it applies and "cut and paste" cut and paste" etc.
There is no deep philosophical gems there. Just stuff that was created in their own image to present to the "Sheeply JW masses"
You can't argue if you dont have the facts, over the past 10 years many of us have gotten facts from this wunnerful thing called the INTERNET
Their dowfall was not to BAN PC's in our homes when they began to BAN going to college,
Funny, I hear stories of folks bringin ipads to the KH and brothers have asked them to kindly "put it away" as it sets a bad example, oye vey - now that is crazy, setting a bad example at the KH
my rant for the week is now concluded, all may go back to a more meaningful day
shazam!

Home Memorial Commemoration
by irondork inwe're a few months out but i want to start getting some ideas.. .
for those of you who commemorate the memorial at home, would you please share the format you use.
i don't intend to return to a jw-hosted event again.

Hey Look,
I have an idea...what if there was "a plan" for all who "fell away" to attend the memorial in 2012 and PARTAKE?
Look we could get one person to every hall (like Santa does on the 25th of Dec) and then voila CHUG it ALL Down, obviously at a KH that you are not known, Surprise Surprise Surprise
I think the #'s would be staggering " 200,000 + partook of the emblems, surely they ALL MUST BE NUTTERS" that would make the JW's get talked about ...so devious, so much fun to plan
Who is with me????
