Parts of this years Elders school were pretty interesting actually. Teaching, reading (not as dull as it sounds), and being more reasonable and balanced as elders. Then spent hours doing para by para reviews of letters on Child Abuse etc. I just wish they would make mandatory reporting the standard, but no..... somebody on here posted a link to all the Talk Outlines if you’re that interested....

Do CO's get a check each time they have a convention?
by suavojr induring our weekend convention with the co i noticed he gets his expenses paid for.
my question is if the co then summits another expense report on the following day?
the circuit is split in a and b, so therefore the co meets with the other half the next day.

This is one of those “nothing to see here” moments. Yes, CO’s do submit expenses, and could so in the way you suggest. But these would be expenses, like some food, fuel, some stationary....... not a new iPhone or tickets to the Bahamas. Like them or not, most, unless they have family money, live very very frugally and go hand to mouth most of the time. And as and when they are given the “privilege” of coming off the circuit to allow some thirty-something SKE grads to get the gig, they do so with nothing .....

Higher Education
by Brian J injust spent 8 hours in a 1 day elders school last weekend.
clarification given: "moving forward any elder, ms, or pioneer who themselves or someone under their roof enrolls in higher education, may no longer qualify for privileges in the congregation.
their qualifications will have to be reviewed by their boe.".

I attended the Elders School last weekend (UK), and there wasn't a single reference to higher education, not even in the sections on making recommendations. Sounds like your instructor went rogue :)

last week's watchtower about the subject of love had something to say about the hard working attendants.
it seems that they are choosing to sit in the best seats at the convention.

For fear of being called an apologist, having been an attendant myself for many years, the behaviour described here is very much from a minority. My experience is working with many genuine caring men, and women, that only wanted to help and improve the experience for others. I accept that there are exceptions - and once you’ve left the org, you probably remember the negative, but I don’t accept the blanket characterisation portrayed here...

Do you (or did you) have much of a social life as a Jehovahs Witness.
by UnshackleTheChains ini ask this question out of interest, because as a jehovahs witness for some 26 years, i have always felt that there is an 'all work, no play' culture within the organisation.
the organisation doesn't promote social gatherings.
i could count on one hand each year how many get togethers we have had.

Maybe I am unusual, but for me the social life is one of upsides! Ive made and continue have some great friends inside, and as a born in, had a great social life in my teens - we had friends all over the place - parties every weekend... Im not kidding.. much better than what most of my friends at school were up to..

I do understand that when you become an "ex-anything", whether you've been fired from your job, barred from you local pub, or been disfellowshiped or left the Org, you might need to have a bitch about it from time to time - and that's largely what happens here 24/7 - but entering a Kingdom Hall full of the young, the old, families and just normal people, exercising their right to free assembly and worship, to disrupt and protest is just plain wrong. What on earth gives these people the right to think this is in any shape or form appropriate behavior? For crying out loud - move on and get a new hobby....
